ACC hoops play primer and other links

BC begins ACC play this weekend against North Carolina. As you can imagine, the Tar Heels are heavy favorites. I just hope that BC keeps it close. UNC will be without one of their freshmen stars in James Michael McAdoo. Here is Andy Katz's overview of the ACC.

I found this roundup of links regarding Dana Holgorsen to be very enlightening. As we continue to struggle scoring points, I think our approach to offense has to change. It is not just play calling. It is about execution and preparation.

BC offered a scholarship to 2013 target John Montelus. He is an offensive tackle from Everett.

In an offbeat but interesting story, Billy Flutie saved someone from chocking at the Applebee's in Cleveland Circle!

BJ Raji is ready for another Super Bowl run.

The women's basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Virginia Tech.

The women's hockey team also lost a close game, falling to St. Lawrence 2-1.

Billy Flutie's is a hero! Erect a monument!

But what kind of job does he have?

"Billy . . . works for BC’s Athletics Department as a game operations assistant, ". What is a game operations asst?

maybe he is on standby at Conte to "save" our hoops team?

"JBQ". Why isn't Billy working for Spaz? I am sure you have some "thoughts" about that

The ACC overview is by someone named Robbi Pickeral, not Andy Katz.

Spaziani Names Jim Bollman Offensive Line Coach/Running Game Coordinator
Comes to Boston College from Ohio State

Jan. 6, 2012

Jim Bollman, who served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for 10 seasons (2001-11) at Ohio State, has been named offensive line coach/running game coordinator at Boston College, according to an announcement made by head coach Frank Spaziani on Friday.

"I am very pleased to welcome Jim to the Boston College staff," Spaziani said. "As a former offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program."

"I am very excited about this opportunity," Bollman said. "One of the most important and rewarding parts of my career has been working with outstanding people, and I look forward to working with Frank Spaziani and his staff. I'm very familiar with the ACC, having coached at NC State and Virginia. Boston College has a great offensive line tradition and has produced some of the best talent in the NFL. I look forward to the challenge of continuing and enhancing that tradition."

Bollman tutored 10 linemen that made NFL rosters during his 10-year tenure as the Buckeyes' offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

A native of Ashtabula, Ohio, Bollman came to Ohio State from the Chicago Bears, where he spent the 1999 and 2000 seasons as tight ends coach. He was the tight ends coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998 and has collegiate coaching experience at Michigan State, Virginia, Youngstown State, North Carolina State and Miami (Ohio) on his impressive resume.

Bollman played college football at Ohio University. He won four letters as an offensive lineman for the Bobcats and was team captain as a senior in 1976. He graduated from Ohio University in 1977 with a degree in education.

Looks good on the surface.

Meyer bringing in his own coaches.

Did Bollman become available after we hired Martin?

We need change and progress.
