I am fighting every urge in my body to slam Spaz for losing another recruit. This time it's Donavan Henry, who decided he'd rather run track at Northeastern. I pray that Spaz salvages the class this weekend.
Rutgers commit Michael Giacone visited BC this weekend.
This article on Coughlin and Belichick is sprinkled with anecdotes from TC's days at BC.
This report says that Donnie Fletcher's stock is down after his Senior Bowl week. He also allowed some long receptions during the game.
Craig Smith called his time at BC the best four years of his life. (Thanks to Peter for the link.)
Maine is locked in for BC's game on September 8.

The Globe today had some fantastic comments about Donnie Fletcher from the Vikings coach he's been working with - they seemed really very high on him though the Globe says he may end up as safety because of his speed and height.
"“Donovan Henry is a superb track and field runner,” said Catholic Memorial football coach/athletic director Alex Campea. “Basically, Donovan came to me the other day and decided that he wanted to run track. He’s been back and forth with this because of his love for football and his love for track. He just came to the conclusion that he wanted to run track at Northeastern.”"
The loss of Donovan Henry is about Donovan Henry, not about Spaz
mod34b, a good (heck, even an adequate) salesman would have been able to convince the kid to stick with BC. this is very much about Spaz.
Great article on Craig Smith. Really hope he makes it in Portland and enjoys a winning team for a while. Miss his power, finesse and footwork in the lane at the Heights.
I had a chance to meet Donnie Fletcher at the Senior Bowl "Meet the Players" event on Friday. He was a very nice young man and pretty pleased and surprised to see an actual BC fan.
I'd read that he had a decent week, but struggled some during the game. As it's what the scouts and coaches see during the practices that seems to really count, let's hope that holds true for him.
Losing a football prospect to the Northeastern track team reaches the level of "ignominious", I'd say. Shame, shame, shame.
if he decided on a different football program you could blame Spaz, but he decided against football. I wish Spaz would retire and get some enthusiasm back in the program, but it is too much of a stretch to blame him for this one.
Seriously - losing guys to Harvard, Northeastern, and a slate of recruits whose other BCS level offers are from the perennial bottom feeders (Northern Ill., service academies) - shouldn't happen. This is Spaz and Gene. How hard of a sell his BC without them?
Tough to watch implosion by the hoop team in the final seven minutes against Miami today. They had played pretty well, trading small leads for more than 30 minutes before completely falling apart and losing by 20.
Hoops team seems to have a knack for giving up huge runs in the second half that turn close games into blowout losses.
the reason for close games turning into blowouts is clearly about strength and conditioning. even donahue has said so. it's easy to see why when you see the upper class bodies of opposing teams against the undeveloped bodies of our freshmen. they simply get tired at the end of games. an offseason in the gym will fix that.
