BC using coordinators as face(s) of the program?

BC posted this "thank you" video as an invite to a special practice for season ticket holders. Notice anyone missing? It is just a silly Youtbue video but I find it very telling that the school left out the Head Coach. This is college football. Your head coach is the face of the program. Ours isn't even mentioned in a direct marketing message to our most loyal customers.

There are many likely explanations for Spaz's absence. He's not particularly good on camera. He's never really shown any sort of enthusiasm for this sort of thing. And I think BC has heard enough to know that Spaz is not very popular with our fan base. No reason to trot him out when it will just dampen excitement about the upcoming season.

I like Bill McGovern and Doug Martin. Both are capable coordinators and leaders. Martin's been a head coach and I know McGovern wants to be one, so giving them face time is not a bad idea. Let's hope they are also given autonomy this year (which hasn't been Spaz's strong suit with coordinators). If these two are given real power, season ticket holders will probably be happy they renewed.

Honestly, I'm not complaining if we're having Martin and McGovern as the figureheads for the team. Martin has already exceeded the previous OC's in terms of face time and explaining his offense. Players continue to rave about him and his new offense.

As for McGovern, last year's defense wasn't the greatest, but it kept us in most games. It's too bad there's no such thing as co-head coaches.

It would appear that there is a p.r. campaign at work. Maybe, Spaz will "get sick" just before the season starts and Martin has to step in.

This was actually a very good move by athletics. At this point, I'd rather have these two guys promote the program than Spaz.

Respect Spaz' privacy!

Who knows? Maybe Spaz's control of the team has been stripped and they are keeping him around to save face over the "x number of coaches in z years" issue that would be spun against us? It may be cheaper to keep him around in some sort of athletic/football advisory role rather than buying him out and searching for a new coach while Jags is still on the books.

... one can dream...

Darn, I can't make it - I'm getting married on the following day!

Maybe they're going to announce at this event that Spaz has retired and moved to a remote cabin in the northwestern states...
