Willis commits, decommits and then commits, and other links

It was a strange night if you follow BC recruiting on Twitter. First Rivals reported Georgia running back Myles Willis' commitment. Then Willis himself took to twitter to say that he didn't commit. Later in the night he clarified that he did commit. Regardless, it seems like it is over and he seems like a good pickup. He plays for local Atlanta power Marist. I will try to check out one of his games this fall.

One of the great under-appreciated aspects of BC sports is "For Boston." However, the bloggers at Atlantic Coast Convos have great taste as they listed our fight song as the best in the ACC. (Am I the only one singing "For Boston" to himself right now?)

BCeagles.com put out another player Q&A, this time with basketball transfer Alex Dragicevich. Dennis Clifford is one of the players who has made an early impression on Alex.

I also love "Sweep down the field for Boston" - we should play that more often.

Thanks for coming to BostonCollege, Alex. It's a great school and a great city. I hope you have a wonderful experience over the next three years.

Wills looks like a really nice prospect:

when was the last time BC got an ATH/playmaker from the south of that caliber? is montel too lofty of a comparison?

here is the ESPN write-up on him:

Willis is essentially a tailback employed as a triple option quarterback at this level and he is a very gifted runner and overall athlete. He lacks height, but is a stout, well-built prospect with deceptive power and lower body strength. Possesses a wide, powerful hip-base and strong lower-body that allows him to absorb the big hit and bounce off initial contact on a consistent basis. Balance may be his best attribute as he's difficult to get a direct shot on and knock off his feet. Quick to and through the hole with good change-of-direction skill and cutback ability. Follows his blocks, sees the crease and hits it sharply and decisively without gearing down and losing speed. Shows good stop-start and jump-cut lateral agility to make the first defender miss through the hole. Flashes very good initial burst out of his cuts when he gets North. Not a homerun threat but he's dangerous when he gets into the second level with his ability to break tackles and spin out of traffic. Runs very low to the ground with a strong base. Lowers his pads on contact but keeps driving and never stops his feet. While he flashes good foot-quickness and burst, he does not demonstrate great outside speed and an extra gear to turn the corner and separate. To begin his career at the next level we are not convinced he can be a high load carry back, but eventually we do feel he could fill this role. This is a player that is very competent in a lot of areas. Plays some defense and is a good, instinctive player. Willis may lack elite speed, but he is fast enough in our opinion.

Really? I've always though "For Boston" was God awful and flat out embarrassing.
