A win is a win

When things are going bad you start to wonder if we'll ever win again. Even as a favorite, I didn't expect things to be easy. When we wasted opportunities and had issues on 3rd down I started to worry. When Maryland took the lead, I thought the game was over. But the players proved resilient and saved their best for the last drive of the day. It wasn't pretty, but it counts as a win.

I feel great for the players. They are starved for some good news and watching their reactions to the win made me smile. With the "W" BC avoids their worst season since 1978. Now let's hope they build off this and finish strong.

I'll have second viewing thoughts and grades up late Sunday night.

Rettig is a gamer. I can't wait to see his senior year. Also, Swiggert, Amidon, and Coleman. Should be awesome.

We also need one of these TE's to emerge next year.

Having Pantale back makes a big difference.

Great to win and wonderful final drive by Rettig, in particular. However, I worry about Rettig's footwork. I understand that he's lost confidence in his O-line, but it's getting worse every week. I don't think Martin is able to spend the time required on Chase's mechanics, given the work he has to do as OC. I hope BC invests in a QB coach soon.

Great win for the guys, they really deserved it! You could tell after the game, that these guys hadn't had anything to celebrate in a long time, and they relished every moment. There was a group of players moving along the sidelines, giving high-fives... one player even went down the entire length of the field giving a high-five to every single fan with an arm out. Never seen 100 yards worth of high fives before! We needed this.

Holy crap, Notre Dame is going to put up 70 on us. I'm traveling out to Boston for this one but I'm not looking forward to the Irish owning us yet again.

At one point, we were even all-time against Notre Dame. Thanks to Spaz, we are deep in the hole to them now and getting deeper.

I haven't been able to see the last two games due to family obligations, but was thrilled to see the team pull this one out today. So glad for the players.

That said, I cannot begin to imagine what Notre Dame will do to us, no matter how "up" the team is for the game. I am so angry that we are in this position.

I'm with Bill here. I was sure we were going to lose when Maryland came back but Chase & Co. ran a great 2 minute drill and came away with a great W.

Rettig called the plays on the final drive. Some players on offense thought spaz was too conservative so they got fed up and took matters into their own hands.

Bobg - if that is true, I love it.

I have been yelling for Chase to call his own plays for quite some time when the coaches don't give him the right plan or plays.

There is no question that we looked a lot better on that last drive.

Lets focus on beating Wake Forest this weekend.

Notre Dame game will take care of itself.

By the way the Notre Dame Oklahoma game was fixed. Started very similarly to the BC ND game on ABC in 2010 where the refs made some phantom calls and gave ND a 14 point lead early in 1st Q.

BS.

I know it has been noted that Spaz was sans headset for most of the second half. It's not only that though. My buddy had binoculars on him for most of the last 7 or so minutes of gameplay and he didn't talk to a single person. At one point he kinda walked towards the offensive huddle, poked his head around, and then turned around and started pacing again. It's amazing.

That's our head coach and he is a complete non-factor on the sideline in a close ball game that he desperately needed to win to have any chance of righting the ship for this season. It's unreal.
