Luke Kuechly is back on campus this semester finishing his degree. He shared that news and thoughts on the NFL in this Q&A with BCeagles.com.
Stewart Mandel gave BC a "B" for our coaching hire and like most thinks snagging Don Brown was a coup.
Most of you might have seen this already, but Gene is now teaching people the basics of football.
Adding an essay to the BC application process drastically cut the number of applicants and that is probably a good thing.

"Cool Hand Luke". What's his major?
Another example of how great Luke was compared to T'eo. Now he can really be called a fraud.

I think the $59,000+ price tag - more than Harvard, Yale, Stanford & ND - probably had something to do with fewer applications too.
Wow the Manti story is amazing.
ND's response -- don't blame Manti -- he is a victim.. huh???
Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te’o
On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

GDF is a joke and he couldn't teach his way out of a paper bag.
So glad he is gone and hopefully he will be long forgotten - especially when BC gets back on the winning track.
I'm also pretty sure he was an A.H. as well - a lecherous pigmy.
Two seperate thoughts.
First, my concern with the drop in applications vis a vis the US News Rankings is that it will drastically lower the % of applicants admitted. Isn't that counted highly?
Secondly, re: Kuechley. I'm glad to see that. He deserves a top spot in the BC Athletics Hall of Fame, and will never get there without a degree (see Reasoner, Mary).
Or raise the percent of applicants admitted....you get my point. (A&S and a lawyer...I'm bad at anything math oriented).
Good admissions move by BC. My son attends a Public H.S. where 98 % graduates go on to College, and BC is a Common App. click away for many who don't necessarily want to go to BC, but can afford to pay the fee, and hope for their Ivy first choice. Many of these kids are clicking/applying to 20 schools, most they know nothing about. This move may sway them away from wasting everyone's time and allow those who truly want to go to BC to have an opportunity to make their case.
and another tough bball loss tonight.
Hoops team found yet another way to lose a winnable game tonight. A few bad calls by refs, especially the one that ended the game, combined with a very untimely freshman mistake by Hanlon (totally unforced turnover) and injuries. All of these games are comfortable wins with a healthy Clifford, I think. Can't believe there wasn't a viable alternative to a one-legged Rahon, either. With him on the court, BC was playing 4.5 on 5 (unless Clifford was also on the court, then it was 4 on 5, at best).
Three points tonight:
1. Bball will win these close games next year or later this year. We still need help in the front court.
2. Seems like we are hiring the entire Temple football coaching staff. I hope there is some "there" there.
3. Notre Dame has some serious explaining to do. Manti Teo? Really?
Get well Jerry!
26% decrease in applications you say? I call that the Spaz-effect!
Fr. Leahy wake up and spend some freaking money on your football team!
