That's five in a row (but who's counting?)

The Beanpot was BU's tournament for most of its existence. Not anymore though. Monday night BC won its fifth straight Beanpot, defeated Northeastern 4-1. BC scored first, but it was a pretty even game overall. Northeastern evened it in the second period and wasn't going to let us waltz to another title. BC took the lead again late in the third and then piled up some late goals in the final minutes when the Huskies started taking chances.

Jerry York refers to this time as the start of the championship run. But I don't even know if we need to ramp up anything. The team hasn't lost since November. We could keep riding this momentum through Hockey East an onto another Frozen Four. But let's not look too far ahead.

This is a bragging rights tournament, so let's brag! We won again. Congrats to everyone on the team. For they don't even know what it is like to lose a Beanpot!

Great win. The winning goal,a tip in by patrick Brown while prone on the ice with a guy all over him, was incredible. Watch it on Hockey East.

It's an exaggeration to say the Beanpot has been BU's tourney for most of its existence. From 1990 through 2009, BU won 15 of 20 Beanpots. Before that, the tournament was much more even and BC and HU won their share.

Patrick Brown's first goal was terrific, but we knew BC was capable of this type of performance. I did not know that Northeastern was capable of the performance they put on last night. This game was extremely well played by both teams; it was very physical, but I think there was only three penalties. I was very impressed with Northeastern's speed, skill and discipline. They are going to surprise folks in the NCAA tourney.

I though BC played outstanding defense. Nothing came easy for NU.

I think the game winner came exactly when we needed it. If you watched on TV, there seemed to be new life breathed into the team after that goal. They looked sluggish before, and then skated like mad men after.

The hockey team can win championships. The football team can compete successfully in the ACC and land a real coach. The Men's & Women's soccer teams can hang tough with all of the ACC teams. There is an endless list of reasons why the basketball program should be able to land a real coach. Enough with all the negative talk about how BC is a bad coaching job. Thank you AGAIN, Jerry York and BC Hockey, for proving to everyone that BC Athletics is top notch, and should remain top notch. GO EAGLES !!!
