Bill Connelly's Boston College preview

SB Nation's Bill Connelly released his Boston College preview last week. As always it is worth the read and interesting to read what an unbiased observer feels about Addazio.

Bill's expectations are relatively low and thinks Addazio earned a mulligan for whatever happens this year.

Maybe they'll have more surprises in store, but even if they don't, this year's a mulligan. He's surprised twice, so if BC regresses, it's a freebie, not only because of the past but because of the future.

I think Addazio earned a lot of goodwill, but I am still not convinced this year will be or should be a full bottoming out. There is enough talent and Addazio has been in place long enough that we should compete in every game.

2 -.500-ish seasons gets Dazz a pass for a crappy season 3 years in?

I think not.

So far Dazz has clearly proven he is better than Spaz, but he is not even within sniffing distance of TOB (who also should have done better )

Of concern is his excusing making (directly or through media surrogates)

The program was on really bad shape after Jags/Spaz. Addazio has done well and we can see the plan taking shape with the commits that are coming. Two .500ish seasons were really good with what he had.

Tom O'Brien went 4-7 in each of his first two seasons.

Agree with ATL that the Eagles will be competitive this year. The announcer at the Pinstripe bowl said BC could have prevailed in all their 2014 games. Just an upgrade to the kicking would have made them a 9 or 10 win team. They finished second in the country in rush defense and much of the front seven returns. This year they don't face as many NFL type QBs. With Williams, Baker and Bowen as the nucleus the o-line it should be ok. They have three athletic QBs. One or two will emerge and be effective. They have many quality skilled position players. A mulligan won't be necessary. Bill C does a quality preview, good as anyone else in the country, including Phil Steele. 2. The schedule this year is very good. Similar to last year thee are 8 games in Boston. FSU, VT and ND will appear here. Five of the first six games are at home. The two FCS games should be wins. The next eight are all FBS without a bye week. The last two are a non conference game and Syracuse. Ideally the orange are a four win team with not much to play for. The eight straight in the middle are essentially the season. As Maine goes so goes the nation. Win that first one and they are on their way. This could be an unforgettable year. We just have to get through the lazy, crazy, hazy days of summer.

I'm w/ Atlanta. I expect season 3 to be as least as good as the first 2. Much more for Daz to build on going into yr3 than yr1. Solving the kicking problem is crucial.

Joe G - TOB went 8-4 in his third year. Dazz needs to get to that level this year. No excuses.

is Dazz actually a really good coach? or just better than Spaz?

65 of 85 scholarship players are freshmen or sophomores. He gets a freebie this year. BC will need to perform at a high level to get to 6 wins.

This is the middle of a complete roster upgrade. Way to miss the forest for the trees mod. You're like...Hey, a post from the 9:55 guy without a reference to the SEC. Maybe it's safe to go back in the water.
