BC makes progress against Maine

It wasn't pretty or particularly smooth, but BC did what it had to do and beat Maine 24-3. I thought Wade looked decent. He was more poised than I expected, but still needs to work on his timing and decisions. But the timing issues are the reason we scheduled Maine and Howard early. The D played well and really carried the team.

Overall this went about as planned. Now they just need to keep getting better.

I am on the road but plan on having second viewing thoughts and grades up late Sunday.

The timing issues are why we scheduled Maine and Howard? Really?

Gotta tell the PR department to turn down the audio on the half advertisements. Deafening.

Can't sugar coat this. Was there in person and the Oline was brutal. They got beat up. Maine might have held us to even fewer points if they had more depth.

Passing game wasn't pretty - in part b/c the pass pro was again not up to snuff. Alston had like 3 drops. If he wants to be a playmaker, he needs to catch the ball b/c the jet sweep isn't enough.

Defense was outstanding. But you need to move the ball and score in today's college football. Puts too much pressure on the D.

The oline got corrected at halftime. The center wasn't blocking properly on the up the middle run plays. They got that figured out.

Also, the previous PA announcer(name?) who had been doing the games for like 20 years is gone. I think the Patriots PA guy is doing it now. Sounds like him from Patriot games I went to the last couple seasons.

I see Tyler murphy made the initial Steelers 53 man roster, Silberman on 49ers, Gallick on Titans..but other eagles cut: Vardaro, Phillips, Clearly, Mihalik, Ramsey

any other recent Eagles in/out NFL?

Sticking to the topic, I am less sanguine about Wade and this offense than the author of this post. Here ppl are talking about announcers and ex-Eagles. What's next? Uniforms?

Didn't Momsh make it?

CT, the entire O-line was gone from last year. What did you expect? There is not a single team in the country that would not struggle with that adjustment. The D looked great, Wade's debut was one of the best I've seen from a BC QB and we converted 3rd downs. This team is going to get better week by week. I predicted 6 wins and I think that is the most likely scenario with this young team and tough schedule.

CT,
I gave everyone here the best analysis they are going to get in terms of the teams' major weakness, offensive line. THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST HALF WAS CORRECTED AT HALFTIME AND THEY PLAYED WELL IN THE SECOND HALF.

Thad Smith(WR) is a burner and can get open. Can they get him the ball ?

IF you had been going to the stadium for 35 years to attend games in person you would be surprised to hear a new voice especially one tied to the patriots.

The uniforms looked good as well. So does the new dorm where Moore Hall used to be. They also did not hang flags of the opposing teams on the schedule from the very top of the stadium this season. BMW of Peabody is not advertising like every 5 minutes either.

Lots of changes from last year.

Eagles win 7 games.

I watched the game online and though they did get better after halftime it wasn't simply correcting the center. Maine pitched a shutout in the 3rd by the way. Mod, as always, solid contribution. You're the man. The. Man.

Really looking forward to that Howard game where you will learn next to nothing about the team.

Who gets the attendance award? Was it 29,000?

Impressive attitude.

CT,
Does the library still let you in to use the their internet connection?

They blocked all the sites I went in to do research on.

I wish, really really wish, to one day be able to take any thing u say and have it result in a connection between synaptic gaps.

I have decided that this year - because we are largely pretty young and inexperienced, that I am going to simply enjoy the team's accomplishments and be pretty realistic about mistakes. Sure, I'll get irritated at times, and disappointed too, but I know our team - coaches and players - will give their best at all times.

I believe that BC can recapture the imagination of college football fans in the region, as well as rekindle the "fallen away" BC fans through positive re-enforcement from us die-hards. And, of course, by winning.

Everything I say blow your mind, eh?

I cannot wait until the Howard game. They have a solid front seven and their art program is top notch.

That help?

. . . If we can run on Howard then I think that will give us a good idea off what we can expect against Florida State.

Didn't get to watch the game till today. Of course it was against an FCS team, but I really liked Wade. He throws a really nice ball, mostly got the ball right on the numbers. We still by and large can't get anyone open, I hope that improves. Don't like the way Howell's kicks looked at all. I think he'll cost us a game or 2. Why is this so hard to fix?
