Don't count on Golden

There has been lots of Al Golden to BC as Defensive Coordinator talk the past 24 hours. I have been wrong on these things many, many times, but I don't think Golden is coming. Forget about the mismatch of styles or Golden serving as a threat to Addazio's position. I don't think it is happening for the very simple reason that Golden just moved his whole family back to New Jersey. Just moved, as in less than a month ago. New school for the kids. New house. Everything. Given that, I don't see him as the type of guy who is going to take an assistant job a few weeks later.

Whatever problems Golden might have as a head coach, he's been a pretty good at managing his career. His biggest mistake was probably not taking the BC job when Miami was still being investigated by the NCAA. While serving as a Power 5 DC might help rehab his profile, he might be better off sitting out a season and trying to get a head job next offseason. He might even be a candidate for BC should Addazio struggle again.

Maybe I am reading too much into the family and career issues, but once again the timing seems off for Golden to come to BC.

I know it's not a completely fair comparison, but I believe Fitch still lives in Florida. Fitch has older children (believe both in college) so his need to be home is not as important (as it would be for Golden with young children), but worth noting. One could argue that Golden would still be able to be home often while recruiting NJ as well.

Still thought he was a long shot even prior to this information.

Golden's choice: work with Daz (unappealing) or just stay home with his buyout money (appealing)

I like Al Golden. He was really running uphill at Miami and still performed admirably. Thanking about what might be takes away from our current quagmire.

Was he a candidate at BC during the time that Addazio and others were interviewed ?? Is there any indication that he was offered the job ??? I happen to be a Golden fan and believe that he had no chance at Miami . He was truly a guy who wanted to win ,but he also wanted to make sure that the kids were attending class and being given some solid guidance . I believe that he really cares about young men who play for him. THAT IS NOT THE CULTURE AT THE "U". But I am really curious (if anyone knows for sure)if he was offered the Head Coaching job at BC. Is there anyone that reads this blog who can confirm my "Gut" positive feeling about Golden. Thank you much and have a "Happy and Healthy New Year".

EL MIZ - a dream for you! the return of the man who has great promise that is always unfulfilled....

guido - i did never heard that Golden was offered the BC job. Sounds odd. When Daz was hired he was the Temple coach for 2 years. He replaced Al Golden So when Daz was a candidate and hired at BC, Golden was 2 years into his Miami gig. Not likely Golden was going to quit Miami after 2 years to join BC - a program that had just been vommited upon by Spaz and GDF.

Golden for HC 2017!

Mod - Day was a good recruiter, knows the players, and certainly got a lot more out of them than Addazio and Fitch did. i'd like that better than Loefler.

Miz, Maybe! I suppose he could be better than Loeffler

Daz has now Spazzed himself and has limited his ability. To attracted talented coaches and players.

Did you know that Daz has attracted the lowest quality recruits (based on star averages on Rivals) in the ACC and is in bottom 3 of all P5 schools. 0-for-ACC has its consequences

But I thought that Daz was some sort of recruiting guru.
