Syracuse knocks out Soccer from NCAA Tourney

BC lost its Elite Eight game against Syracuse Saturday 1-0. The game was scoreless until the Orange broke through in the 79th minute. It marks the end of the season for BC, which saw the team finish third in the ACC Atlantic prior to this NCAA run.

Soccer is one of the consistently strong programs at BC and is under appreciated (by this blog) and most of the BC community. Congrats to the team on the season.

The goaltender "stood on his head". In one sequence, Alex Copp was faced with five corner kicks in one minute. He was fantastic and was finally beaten with a pick play from football. A corner sailed over his head as one basically held him and then the other headed it in. It was like "dejas vous all over again". BC had a bunch of young fast small guys. They played great defense with absolutely no offense. They were just trying to get it to penalty kicks. Sadly, the better team won. They need to recruit bigger players. Nevertheless, congratulations to Coach Ed Kelly.
