Bandwagon BC Hockey time

Thursday BC Hockey takes its regular spot in the Frozen Four. Thousands of BC fans will descend on Tampa hoping to watch Jerry York win another title. Yet for most BC fans -- including me -- this is one of the few times a year that we really pay attention to BC Hockey. And every year as York does it again, I tell myself I will make more of an effort next year.

I am not a hockey hater. I played as a kid and went to the same high school as York's son. I like the sport and am very proud of BC's dominance. I used to use the lack of TV coverage and my distance from campus as an excuse for not paying more attention.  Both those excuses are hollow now as there is good TV access for most games. I think what I am guilty of is not investing emotionally because it is almost too easy. I can only pay attention to so much and the rollercoaster of Football and Basketball tends to draw me in every time.

I will be following and watching Thursday.   I don't like being a casual hockey fan but don't want to miss out on another great York run. I know I'm spoiled but I promise I'll watch more next year!

Great to hear you are becoming more of a hockey fan. If you want to be optimistic about BC athletics, look no further! Jerry York has loaded up on recruits for next season so our success should continue.

The beautiful thing about BC Hockey is that you can focus entirely on enjoying the sport itself - the actual performance of elite athletes individually and collectively - without the distractions of incompetent coaching and administration that impede your enjoyment of other BC sports, particularly football and basketball. If you're a fan of athletic prowess and team play, it's the best there is.

Life just gets too complicated, so I had to move something out. Till I went to college I used to watch the one Ranger game a week that was on down here, and was almost as into it as the Knicks, but other things in life took over. I did think it incredible, we're talking mid 70s, that when I got to Beantown every Bruins game was on TV. This was the Orr era. The Celtics were title contenders and no one seemed to give a dam. I remember going to the garden and buying Knick Celtics play off tickets the day of the game. It's also when I started my love affair w/ BC Hoops, how sad.

BC is the Alabama (football) and Kentucky (Bball) of college hockey. It deserves more support.

I often prefer the radio broadcasts of our BC hockey games to network TV. I listen to all of the regular season games on BC's free audio streaming version of the local Boston radio.

I enjoy the Boston -related ambiance of the broadcasts; i.e., the color commentator's inevitable "Boston accent", the local commercials for Shaws Markets and Saltmarsh Insurance...Giant Glass...

Um. I'm used to seeing BC be the fastest team on the ice. QU looks like they're playing with an extra man ALL THE TIME.

Looks like a game this young team will learn from.

BC was at the Alabama level. They seem to have lost the magic touch as it has been several years since the last title win.
