Wade looks good in Spring Game

This season is suppped to be about Patrick Towles. He was going to lead the team back to the postseason and help establish our passing game. Yet during Saturday's Spring Game, the QB who stood out was Darius Wade.

Technically the Maroon squad beat the White. Because it is Addazio in charge, the score ended up 6-2. QB of the future Anthony Brown looked pretty god, but also threw a pick. John Fadule also played.

I'll have more thoughts on the game in the coming week. For now, just be glad that our QB controversy has changed. Now we have too many QBs...which is a nice problem to have.

Great oline commit today.

The 6-2 score about mirrors the 2015 season.

I know. I know.

Somebody actually won? And I was so sure they'd find some way for both squads to lose.

Attended the spring game. The QBs and the entire offense looks similar to last year. They can manage a couple of first downs but then the drive stalls. The D looked good. The D line, linebackers and DBs all played well. The tackling was good. No one could block Wyatt Ray. If the O line and QBs play in a similar fashion during the regular season expect five wins. Daz looked confused during an extended pow wow with the refs. Hope the offense shown in that contest isn't a reflection of what is to come. 2. Pats release Easley. That is the fifth high draft pick NE made from Florida that was a bust. Fla. and Bama of the SEC must have produced the most NFL flops of all time. See what Kiper said of Bama. Is the SEC dominant? It dominates the bust category.

You can't read much from yesterday offensively. Wade and Towles both looked 100x better than anything from 2015. The throws they made were not happening with Flutie/Smith under center. There is a lot that was misleading about yesterday in the final score. They were still without Hilliman and Giacone and aside from the 10 minute running clock the entire game, Towles didnt have Loeffler calling plays. Loeffler was on the other sideline (Wades sideline) so I assume Gunnell/Brian White/Frye were calling plays on the Towles side. From the scoring perspective, had they decided to run it when they got to the RZ, the score would have been higher, but they went to a few fade routes that missed.

Having been there, Towles definitely seems like the more polished passer and has a really strong arm. I went on the field afterwards and saw him up close, he is a big kid, also showed he could move on that one broken play.

I think the most positive thing about yesterday was the play of the offensive line. They were generating pockets for both QB's against a very aggressive defense. Palazollo and Knopfe both look entirely different from when they came in and Lindstrom has drastically transformed himself in a year.

Defensively, it was encouraging to hear Ray Smith's name a bunch as that is probably the biggest position impacted by graduation with Wujack and Medhi leaving. Ethan Tuckey was also very active and Jimmy Martin showed some really nice speed around the edge on one of the sacks off a delayed blitz (the pick was right too him, not much to take away from that). Assuming everyone stays remotely healthy, this will be a top 10 defense again this year.

Wish we could trade some of our surplus QBs for just one 3 star receiver.

What does the score tell you? The offense was inept. Flutie's passing performance against Duke, 16 yards per attempt, far exceeded anything in yesterday's game. The best QB on the team may be playing wr.

@NEDofSavinHill: You make a valid point. However in that line of thought, the "opera lady sang quite a long time ago". The treatment was despicable. Nevertheless, it is time to turn the page and move on. It also should be noted in a strange sidelight that Christian Suntrup graduates in May and has another year of eligibility. Actually other than Towles, he has the most experience with this type of offense. The "world turns" in a strange sort of way. You have to let the man upstairs sort out the confusion. It looks like the "man upstairs" is way beyond the pay grade of the Reverend Leahy. If it wasn't for the extension, Addazio would be looking in his rear view mirror. He is officially "on the clock". As someone loyal to BC, I would hope and pray that the entire past season was just a glitch. David Gordon's kick in 93 followed a blowout the year before. Nevertheless as Monk the Detective sang, "I may be wrong but I don't think so".

The score of the Alabama spring game was 7-3. Maybe things aren't quite as desperate as they seem for us. Maybe.
