Last week I predicted that the ACC Media would pick BC last in the Atlantic Division. Much to my surprise, they didn't. In fact, the media didn't even pick BC sixth. Instead our Eagles are expected to finish 5th. Maybe Addazio's enthusiasm and the confidence in BC's D is changing opinions.
The results of the poll show clear tiers in the division. At the top there is Clemson and FSU. Then some space before Louisville and NC State. BC is just barely ahead of Syracuse and then Wake. That's probably fair.
Just like my pessimism last week, this still doesn't mean much. BC has to go out and play the games, regardless of where they were expected to finish.

Glad Daz is sounding confident but it would be pretty funny if he had a Trump moment and said "Our OL is still about as solid as a bowl of fruit cocktail - but they are great kids so I pretty much expect we will get a great effort out of them to build a solid foundation after about four years or so."
Trump would have fired our offensive line.
I think his Trump moment would be claiming he's building an OL wall and getting Syracuse to pay for it, and then saying he's the best thing to ever happen to B.C., no thanks to Fibbin' Father Leahy, then talking about how he'd walk away from loyal fans who don't pay more for their donor based seating.
#makeBCgreatagain.
So 5th place implies perhaps a 3-5 ACC campaign. Combined with 4-0 in ooc. Means 7-5.
If Towles is as Addazio claims - an O/S passer with size and speed(4.6)- then BC could possibly go 8-4. The other variable that would substantially improve BC's chances is the fact that the passing game might actually be used instead of just running the ball , which was so depressing to watch last year. Teams just loaded up for the run. Granted , there were no real QB's last year - but in my mind BC has some talent at receiver which will be evident this year if Towles is as advertised. Callinan, Sweeney and Jeff Smith (maybe others) will shine if the offense is wide open and ADDAZIO keeps his hand away from the game plan. Should be an interesting year. The Georgia Tech game will "Tell the story".
Holly crap, agree with everything that's just been said. Where am I?
Still have to block.
It is a much easier task to block when the "D" has no idea whether you are passing short over the middle , a down and out etc rather than "Bringing the House " since you are almost sure that it is a run or the rare pass which was always on 3rd and long. "CREATIVITY" on offense will improve the performance of the "O -Line" for sure. ONCE AGAIN - I will repeat that my prediction is "TOTALLY" predicated on ADDAZIO leaving the offensive game plan to others and I am confident that the addition of Gunnell to the staff will help the development of all receivers. There is ALSO ALLEGEDLY A QB ON BOARD. Nuff said. Go Eagles !!!!
Hanging ur hat on a QB that cldnt win the job at UK is hugely optimistic. Pls be realistic.
Umass , Wagner , Buffalo, Syracuse, Wake Forest, a so so UConn. - a so so Georgia Tech - I really think that I have not gone too far out on a limb. The Georgia Tech game is the barometer. Also A HUGE KEY THAT I FAILED TO MENTION IS WHETHER THE SURGERY ON HILLIMAN WAS A SUCCESS - that is a major factor that I did not consider. I am now worried about his health and I failed to factor that item in my prediction - that player's health now has me somewhat worried about my optimism !!!!For whatever reason , I am not worried about Towles - no super logic , but the interference by ADDAZIO in the offensive game plan has me SUPER WORRIED !!!!!!!! ADDAZIO is the other MAJOR CONCERN - if he is a good boy and watches from the bench - that will help my optimism. I am ready for the season to start - will comment after GT. About a month left before you can dump all over my optimism.
