Things to think about

In Addazio’s first 26 games as Head Coach at BC, Ryan Day served as Offensive Coordinator. In those 26 games BC failed to score more than 14 points four times. In the thirteen games since, BC has failed to score more than 14 points seven times.

In his four seasons at BC, Addazio has lost a lead or tie in the fourth quarter eight times.

When you have no discernible kicking game, it's 4th and 1 and you have a running back who averaged 6 yards per carry in the game and you try a field goal, you have no identity as an offense. And no clue as a coaching staff. The offense in the post-Day era has been beyond dreadful.

Shouldn't Wake 2015 be on that list too? 0-0 tie in the 4th

Ryan Day was a loser OC too.

And, no we do not want him returning to the Heights yet again.

14 points is a ridiculous cut off. we averaged 17 ppg last year and were last in the ACC. to be an upper echelon ACC team we should be averaging around 30 ppg.

against legitimate D1 opponents we did that 5x in 2013, 4x in 2014, and 0x since Day left.

Why is BC being used as a comparison point to LSU in that clip? Oh. Because we are a national laughing stock. Thanks Dazaster.

Matt:

Wake had the lead in the 3rd.

Miz:

I picked 14 because it translates into two TDs. If we cannot score more than that, we are doing a lot wrong.

Nothing would surprise me about those two guys.

I have been watching BC football since 1983 and it has been stunning to see what has happened to the offense. We had prolific offenses all through the 80's, 90's and Oughts. Daz and Spaz have ruined that great tradition. To not even have the balls to go for it on 4th and one is shocking. It is boring, conservative football and it results in multiple losses.

By the way, I re-watched the 4th and 19 play. I originally lambasted the BC DC for only sending 3 rushers. I stand corrected as he rushed 4. In analyzing the play, a linebacker was covering the slot receiver. However, he was playing way off him and let him get a 15 yard head start before he finally bumped him. The receiver blew right by him and he got in a gap between the safety and the linebacker. Had he been chipped coming off the line, he probably would not have had time to get beyond the first down marker. The safety was probably worrying about the receiver going one-on-one with the CB down the sideline ans was late getting to the slot receiver. Tough deal as 4th and 19 conversions are very rare.

I wonder if there is any coordinated effort by the alumni at the national level to shit can Daz? Does Leahy have a clue of the outrage out here?

GE - Leahy certainly has a clue but doesn't take it very seriously. Applications are healthy, major donors are still giving and the BOT is not terribly interested in athletics or challenging Leahy. Until a number of the major donors among the alums decide to speak up - nothing will change. And frankly, I don't think that is very likely. BC does not have an athletic tradition that is terribly important to the majority of its alums and donors. Otherwise, more would have happened by now. It is what it is - and except for an outlier season once in a while where we have some success - BC will always be pretty much mired in mediocrity in the ACC. The best and only hope is to get lucky with a new President who sets high expectations and promptly reacts if they aren't fulfilled or with a new AD who by force of personality demands excellence despite Leahy. BC has a culture that is not suitable for ACC level athletics - and the only way that can be fixed is by new blood at the top. The odds of finding another academician among the Jesuits who will change the culture (versus maintaining it or making it even worse) has got to be extremely low. Having said that - I'd rather see the school drop down to division three rather than dishonestly continue to take money from the ACC without any serious intent to be competitive. At least then we can stop knocking our heads against a wall and just move on.

Nap,
Extremely well said and completely agree. we are a MAC/ivy league program masquerading as a big time program. Worse, the powers-to-be are perfectly happy with the status - quo. Sad.

Nap. I disagree. Your long-term outlook is too pessimistic. BC. Has s 100+ year tradition in football. Basketball and hockey have had shining moments too.

BC obviously has and can succeed in the ACC in football - hoops too And again become a frequent member of the top 20. All very possible. BC is putting money into infrastructure because it is making an investment. Yes that investment seems to be on the slow boat.

It is all gloomy now I agree. But with right coach and AD, we'll be back.

G.eagle get out into some sunshine and believe in BC.

Your're right on. I hope Lefty is as good an OC as Day. Certainly what we saw in game one was a major improvement. But for the PK we might have a decent team. W/ what we have there any ACC wins will be tough to come by.

32 yard punt when the game was on the line. GT started from their 40.

Mod, I leave for Hilton Head tomorrow. Should be getting plenty of sunshine. I admit I'm depressed and frustrated right now. I've been a BC fan since 1970 and I've never seen our signature sports programs so gloomy. I do believe the ship will eventually right itself, but not in the short term.

PS, Brother Mod, our alliance is as strong as the Yanks and the Brits or Canadians. But even allies have a difference of opinion once in a while.
