Regardless of Towles' health, Wade needs to start

On Monday, Addazio elaborated on Patrick Towles' status and said that they are preparing Darius Wade to start against NC State. In my opinion -- regardless of if Towles is healthy -- Wade should start against the Wolfpack.

In ACC games this season, Patrick Towles is completing just 43% of his passes and has thrown just one TD, while also throwing three INTs. As a reference point, John Fadule completed 53% of his passes against the three FBS teams he faced last year and threw one TD and four INTs.

Towles has great physical abilities, but it is not coming together in this offense, this year against the quality opponents. If we were using his running ability more, than I would be in favor of keeping him on the field. But the fact is we're not using it that often and his hamstring issues negate his effectiveness running.

Even in his short time on Saturday, Wade's passes seemed a little more on target. We need that element, if we are ever going to sustain any sort of drive. We don't know what sort of decisions Wade will make under pressure, but we know Towles' instincts are all out of wack. Maybe, if given the chance, Wade will also find the right guy or have a better understanding of when to run and when to throw it away.

While I predict Addazio will call Wade young, his age isn't an issue. He's been in the program three years. What he lacks is on field experience. Let him sink or swim. What is the downside? Another loss? Playing Wade now might be a spark that has been missing. If he is a disaster, than one less unknown issue is tabled. Addazio needs to think about saving the season and figuring out how to save his BC tenure. Playing Patrick Towles won't do that. Wade might not either, but at least it is something different.

Whatever seems logical to you will likely not by our trusty leader.

Is that the verbatim transcript of Daz's rant on social media users?

It doesn't matter who is throwing the ball Father Calinan, Brother Walker and alter boy Sweeney cannot catch anything. Literally.

Addazio cannot save himself. It's over.

The season can't be saved (with Lville, FSU and NCSU coming up). It's over

Which is exactly why I agree with your point. Let's get Wade some reps. Let's get him ready for 2017. Let him face FSU, NSCU, Wake, Lville. It will be a half a season of a great learning experience. And will be invaluable for next year. Who else we going to use next year?

I'm all for Wade starting. Its time to look towards the future. But if Addazio so much looks at Brown and thinks of playing him, it should be considered as actively working to the detriment of the program and he should be fired for cause.

This is why mid-season firings are useful. It protects the program from the last gasps of a desperate man.

Bee Moringa is an Indonesian website. Is this disinformation in code or is Addazio preparing for alternative money sources?

Agreed 100% on Wade. Let's see what we have. I don't believe he's the guy but better to know for sure. Towles has been given ample opportunity - time to move on from him.

On the subject of basketball , it is bothersome / troublesome to me that we have resorted to bringing in three transfer players to fill out our roster. I have no personal grudges against Jim Christian - do not know him. But when BC can not recruit and must go the "Transfer Route" on such a large scale - I must say that the athletic situation in our two major sports has reached the "ABSOLUTE NADIR". It is so depressing.!!!!!!I am just "praying" that proud BC Grads that are big donors will step in the fray and request a meeting with the Board and Father Leahy. If I were a large donor , I would demand that meeting and say how I feel my degree and educational background has been compromised !!!! I am so pissed. !!!! GET LEAHY OUT - he has 20 years in the administrative role and is "Washed Up". Add him to the severance payout list !!!!!

Guido, I doubt Father Leahy gets severance..... but it would be nice if he would turn over leadership as to sports to others (unless he has done so already....I have this image of him talking to Bates.....as bates constantly combs his hair and just talks about graduation rates.....)

so who are the 3 BB transfers......who are the projected starters?

Guido, in the long run, I agree with you on 5th year transfers. However, currently the scholarship situation is so out of whack that we need them. They help balance out the load between classes, rather than continue the extremely unbalanced distribution. Hopefully, once we get back to the 2-3 players per class we'll abandon the practice of relying so heavily on 5th years.

Daz on the social media sounds like Nixon during Watergate. No one understands what a good job he is doing. Cronan and Meter backing him up sound like Halderman and Erlichman. How dare anyone critique our leader. 2.Dungey threw for 400 yards against BC and averaged over ten yards per attempt. BC's QBs Towles and Wade both averaged three yards per attempt. Wade's numbers against Maine, FSU and the Cuse combined were 21/43 for 221 yards with one TD and one int. Five yards per attempt. Last year Flutie was 24/49 for 382 yards with three TDs and one pick. He averaged almost eight yards per throw. He was by far the best QB BC had last year but he failed to kiss the ass of the bloated, brain dead HC. So he was benched. No wonder they are 0-14. winless in their last 14 Power 5 contests. Change can be your friend.

Mod 34b - I am sure that there were 3 transfers at one time (1 mon ago ???), but there are only 2 listed currently . The two listed currently are Connar Tava - 6'6"
250lbs. (Western Michigan) and Mo Jeffers 6'9" 240lbs ( Delaware). I do not follow BC basketball, but only football and hockey. I have no idea who will be starting for BC basketball. I wish them well, but I fear that lack of size will be their downfall. And I was obviously kidding about severance pay for Father Leahy .I was just trying to keep that ridiculous situation in the limelight !!!! I would like to know the exact amt. of donor $$$$ spent on dumping the "Bad Hires".

marcos said...

NED - just STOP with the constant pumping up of Flutie. It's so ridiculous.

Knucklehead said...

With regards to Flutie; the numbers speak for themselves.

BC Basketball picked DFL in ACC again - and it was by far.

When will this nightmare end?
