The latest on BC's second QB target

We've known that BC was still looking at California QB Matt McDonald as a recruit in the 2017 class. Now he has an official offer and is on campus for an official visit. Based on timing and Twitter, it seems like McDonald is coming.

Adding another QB to this class is critical. Not only is BC's current BC depth chart inexperienced, but also thin. Assuming that Wade is out, the only QB on campus with experience is Fadule. Even if Brown is a super star in the making, we need some sort of hedge. EJ Perry is committed, but why not bring in another QB like McDonald?

McDonald is available because he is a late bloomer who transferred from a mega power to get more playing time. He played in a good league and has the build and arm of a ACC player. Because he just became a starter, there is a risk, but the upside is huge.

As much as I would love for Addazio to target an elite recruit well in advance and keep him locked in, the McDonald situation is pretty common in BC's recruiting. We always have to take fliers on late bloomers and guys who fall through the cracks. They don't always become stars, but as long as a few do, BC will keep winning.

Cool. Feels so good to see BC beat out Cornell for this stud. Not . That is how BC got Fadule too. - snagged him from an Ivy power.

So what if no other P5 even looked at this kid, we got Daz and Daz knows QBs. Not.

BC, the school with a history of recruiting future NFL QBs, can't even find a decent bench warmer. Pathetic and sad.

GE. Dazzo has again produced a stinker of a recruiting class #60 nationally. Among the worst among all P5 schools.

And the BC leaders ignore the whole thing. ...... 4 historic blow outs last year was ok with the 'leadership' at BC. . No problems here. More of the same should be expected for 2017 season

It's outrageous. Alumni and students need to storm the Bastille and throw the bums out.

Where's Chip Kelly when you need him?

CJ Lewis looks pretty good.

ATL - your post fails to explicitly state that we need another QB in this class because Daz is forcing out the only experienced QB on the roster (Wade) so that he has a built-in excuse for the losing next year ('its hard to move da rock when da qb is a freshman ok? its gonna take time - maybe 3 or 4 years').

Like I've repeatedly said, Daz is setting himself up for more excuses to save his job.

If we have another losing or even .500 season and Dazoshit is still at the helm, I suggest AtlEagle contact his fellow blog leaders and BC clubs throughout the country and organize a mass protest of Alumni at th Heights. I'm dead serious about this. It can be done, boys and girls.

On checking Rivals - at least on paper , we have 4 QB's in the 2017 recruiting class - EJ Perry , CJ Lewis , Tate Haynes and Drew McQuarrie. The new young recruit on campus would bring the total to 5 QB's. Now , I know that some are saying that CJ Lewis will be a receiver , BUT ...... I think that there is something out of balance in this recruiting strategy , though I am no expert. We need a DT since we are thin at this position. Syracuse was weak at this position , but just got a second commit . One of their DTs is 6'3" 290lbs with a good offer sheet including an offer from BC. Just my thoughts for the day !!!!! Any transfer rumors - does anyone have any inside info ???? How about Wade - is he staying ???

Is there a site that has BC recruiting class as of today? I would hope Daz is not so stupid. But I just answered my own question. He will consistently underwhelm folks with his coaching and recruiting skills. We are seriously overpaying for his incompetence. And what is the strategy? - let him run out his contract. I don't get it. We will be lucky to be competive in any game as our offense will run up the score to 14 points and our defense will be too tired th give a s@@@.

All that McDonald is being recruited for is to hand off the ball. Addazio has said as much. Brown is an option quarterback. Tyler Murphy succeeded according to the Daz's expectations. Addazio could well be 8-4 and still get blown out in the four games that matter. That would be hunkie dunkie with the administration. A new A.D. could make the difference.

The new reality for BC football is that anything better than 7 wins is a banner season. The ACC is a much better football conference than it was in 2006-2008, the "high water mark" of the Ryan/ ACC championship game era. In 2006, the best teams in the ACC were BC and Wake. Now the tables have completely turned. Clemson, Fla. St. L'Ville and V. Tech are not going to be "winnable games" anytime soon. So we are basically saddled with 3-4 losses a year before you get to the 2d tier programs like Pitt, UNC, Miami, etc. BC is not winning any recruiting battles where we don't have a built in advantage. This will compound the challenges going forward, and I don't see the commitment to obtain even mediocrity (i.e. 4 or 5 conference wins) in the foreseeable future.
