The NFL still likes BC's talent

Because the graduating seniors were part of a smallish recruiting class recruited by Spaz, the knock on them is that they weren't that talented. Considering 22 NFL teams turned out for BC's Pro Day, this group either outperformed its ranking or BC's Football reputation outshines the recruiting experts.

Another turnout factor that impressed me about BC's Pro Day was that this was the rescheduled date. BC's first Pro Day was changed due to fear of last week's blizzard.

Because he already measured well at the Combine, Matt Milano only did position drills. John Johnson did everything and was usually BC's top scorer in most drills. Myles Willis did well enough that he will hopefully generate some free agent interest.

If I had to guess who was the reason so many teams showed up, I would have to say Patrick Towles. Regardless of Towles' history or our frustration with his play, the guy still has all the NFL tools. He's big and athletic and can throw it a mile. Some NFL team might want him in their camp. If a team does turn Towles into a viable NFL backup, they will have really leveraged BC's anonymous Pro Day.

Towles? I doubt that. I think he completed about 47% of his attempts. He would be a disaster against NFL defenses. If he can't read an ACC defense, not seeing him reading an NFL defense.

And Willis did nothing at BC.

ATL - you really need to stop drinking the Kool-aid. Wow, 22 teams showed up at BC pro day. In other news water is still wet, the sky is blue and 22 teams showed up for every other school's pro day in the US

Only one plausible explanation: the head coach......rumor has it he has an "in" at Pino's Pizza and got free pies for everyone attending......

In related news, latest video of Daz sprinkling paper clips on the sideline is already up.

Towles needs some glasses(Charlie Sheen in Major League comes to mind). He cannot throw the pass the in the flat accurately. BC never figured that out. They made him throw it 10 times per game. He is also a little jumpy. He is a legitimate down field passer, can run and can obviously take a hit(with that o-line). He picked up the BC O quickly(insert joke here) and the new plays for the bowl game were executed well.

He has some redeeming qualities.

Kind of reminds me of Matt Hasselbeck when he was at BC. Big, arm, came from a sports lineage etc. The o-line never gave him a chance to be as good as he could have been.

We are scrapping the bottom of the barrel here. Ironic as Father Montana is laid to rest today. I had the privilege of knowing him in his prime at BC. All this angst over BC athletics would be history - and BC well on its way to national prominence if he were in charge.

Towles is a viable NFL candidate. He is 6 ft 5 and runs a 4.5-4.7 40 depending on when it was measured. He weighs at least 250. Give the guy his due. His grandfather is Jim Bunning who threw two MLB no hitters for the Tigers and Phillies. He did well at Kentucky as a starter as a sophomore and junior. He came to BC to be coached and he was not. He was just used to hand off the ball. When the wraps were taken off in the first half of the bowl game, he had an Oscar moment. The second half, the wraps were put back on and BC barely held on. This kid was not coached. This kid has unknown potential. That is all that the NFL is looking for. He has all of the physical tools and he may find a very good coach to develop him. He will make a very good backup and a spot starter. Come to think of it. That is the same profile that Kurt Warner had. As Joaquin Andujahr (Baseball Cardinals) once stated so well, "ya never know". How can Addazio still be around? Does he go to lunch with John Fish? Does he bowl with Father Leahy? I'm sure that he played golf with BB. That's all that Bates did from viewing on a visit to the campus in 2015.
