Finn Dirstine verbals to BC

The recruiting hot streak continued Wednesday as Addazio picked up his biggest name yet of this cycle in Mass OL prospect Finn Dirstine.

Aside from his rating, Dirstine is important for a few other reasons. He is a top local player. As I have written about recently, geography is critical in recruiting. While BC is building up a pipeline in various far flung outposts, they cannot ignore New England. Landing the Top Mass players shouldn't be a surprise. It should be the expectation.

Dirstine also builds the relationship with Lawrence Academy. Because they can recruit and use older players, Lawrence Academy is a growing regional power. Strengthening our connection there is a good thing.

Finally, we need to have a great OL again. Who knows if Dirstine will live up to the hype, but at least he has promise at a critical position. BC will never be great again without a great OL. Investing time and energy in elite OL prospects is a critical step in making BC great again.

This guy is nasty.

Tell coach Zuks that Lawrence Academy is a "growing" regional power to his face. He will politely tell you they and Xaverian have been the best football program in MA for the last 15-20 years.

Before that it was Brockton. Who we used to raid for recruits.

MA high school football is a joke. It is played at such a lower level than in most other states.

Agree completely. The Massachusetts player of the year could not play at BC (1982-86). Dumb as shit and no athletic and/or football ability.

Predictions in January after the bowl game are 4-8 (1-7). I don't believe that the new A.D. would fire him. I believe that this is too much of a "good ole boy" network with the connections to Urban Meyer. I think that once again, he will buy time with the good recruits. So, what is really going on? Two point six mill for eight years each is too much to imagine. John Fish who is leaving didn't intervene. His company of Suffolk Construction is top 200 Forbes Business. He has a brother in Phoenix who runs another in Waste Management. This is just too much. It is believed here that he is viewed as just too great of a character developer. Xs and Os are viewed as irrelevant.

I would not let Daz wash my car or pick up my dogs shit - for fear if him fucking up both jobs.

He has demonstrated numerous times he is beyond his depth. There is no value in anyone listening to his character development.

Daz is signed through the 2020 season. 2017 he'll obviously be here, so firing him after this season would only be 3 more years (18-19-20).

Daz is 10-22 in conference, so i cannot imagine him keeping his job if he goes 1-7 this year (putting him at 11-29 after 5 seasons).

JBQ - can you flesh out the logic underpinning the "good ole boy" network? so Meyer was HC at Ohio State when Jarmond worked there? Jarmond will now potentially sacrifice his career success to because a former co-worker used to employ our HC? that doesn't make much sense to me.

according to this fox sports article (http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/gallery/coaching-salaries-overpaid-underpaid-highest-paid-lowest-jim-harbaugh-nick-saban-charlie-strong-kevin-sumlin-102716), Daz makes $2.3 million/yr, so canning him with 3 yrs to go would cost the school $6.9 million. i could see the school saying he's too expensive to fire if he does something like 5-6 wins again, which would be unfortunate.

Daz is on a roll. Two LA recruits in two days. The wall lives? Kinda?

Money can be replaced; and replaced very quickly. Time on the other hand is the most precious. You would think a Jesuit institution would know this simple fact.

Tony Abardo said...

Max, I think the fact that you have to go back to 1982 for your example proves my point pretty well.

knucklehead said...

Usually there is a buy out.

Max doesn't know what he is talking about. Wicked tough guy though.

Look up a list of players who have come from MA and then compare it to whichever state you want. Keep in mind this state is fractionally the size of every other state you are going reference.

Max you don't know anything about BC football. ANYTHING.

Will take Doug Flutie, Darren Flutie, Steve Strachan, Shawn Halloran, Steve DeOssie etc etc against anyone in America at their positions in 1983.

Who cares about the "player of the year?" Who were they during that period anyway? Just gave you three NFL players from that time period from MA off the top of my head.

Slither back under your rock. Weirdo.

You don't understand Mod.

Compare MA to whatever state you want. FL, OH, CA, TX, PA. They all have more people and "better football" than MA.

Reading comprehension again.

Mod, I know you are full of questions because you cannot read and comprehend a simple point. I don't have all day to explain it to you.

Simply. Massachusetts is a small state compared to the traditional recruiting hotbeds and the best players in MA are as good as anywhere else.

Knucklehead, Mod has absolutely wiped the floor with you today. You are so obtuse. How does Nebraska and Wisconsin consistently produce top 25 teams with a handful of farmers? Mod's logic is sound.

Mod,
Your reading comprehension is bad. Your reading comprehension is bad. Your reading comprehension is bad. Blinded by desire to prove me wrong in anyway you can conjure up.

MA is smaller than FL, OH, CA, NJ, TX and PA. Fact. Not sure why you are fighting it. In my opinion the best players from MA are as good as the best players from anywhere else. Usually they are Lineman or QB's and not skilled players.

Stupid to harp on one guy. Not sure why excluding him is so important to you. The point made is sound and appropriate. Some of BC's best players from 82-86 are from MA. Fact. Indisputable.

This proves: a)you have poor reading comprehension skills and b)find fault with everything.

Mod is arguing with himself. I didn't say anything about Nebraska or Wisconsin. Don't care about it. I am talking about what MA produced as compared to states that are bigger(population people #of high school football players).

John said...

Other teams pick off many of the best players in MA year after year.

It seems to me that if you are going to compare states, we'd have to list all of the players. We tend to forget the ones who get away.

Maybe MA stacks up very well overall. When mentioning Nebraska, Wisc., WV etc., Do we know how many key players come from their own states, year in and year out?

knucklehead said...

Right. The kid at Clemson is the best DL in his class. Chris Marinelli was with Stanford. Pete Kendall. Derek Knight. Ron Brace. LV Whitworth. Gosder Cherilus. St. Pierre. Hasselbacks. Tim Bulman.

Good players out of MA I can think of. MA has fewer hs football players than 20 or states as well.

These players are as good as players from anywhere else.

CT said...

Can't believe I agree with Mod.

HS football is different.

I'm on the phone and too lazy to type more.

This thread is dedicated to proving Khead's robust knowledge of BC football

Most of Khead is fluff BUT what he said about Wilkins at Clemson is a-ok. Dude is a top 5ver. Next yr.
