Things not looking good for Hawkins

One of the bright spots of summer was Jim Christian's staff landing 5th year transfer Deontae Hawkins. There has been speculation and gossip for weeks now that he's not coming. I wasn't sure if it was an academic issue or something else. Well, now his old coach put the gossip out there saying "I don't think he's going to Boston College."
Others still think BC is in the picture.

Regardless, this late stage doubt is not a good long-term or short-term sign. Christian needs help ASAP, and this would be a set back. And if Christian doesn't win this year, he is probably gone.

Probably gone? I this kid doesn't come the ooc will again be a disaster. It might be with him. I predict an in season firing or at least a statement that he is done at the end of the year.

If Christian doesn't win this year? If? It's really hard to see how the team can do well this year. Probably 2-16 or 3-15 in ACC play with out of conference cupcakes to pad the record. You know, like Addazio did with the football team last year. If Christian is still coaching this team on April Fool's Day, I'll be floored.

Maybe Hawkins is seeking a different graduate degree program from the one he was considering at BC like in Botany or Predictive Analytics? You never know.

Christian must go IF JARMOND WANTS TO WIN. WHY waste another year on a coach who can't
recruit and might be a decent coach far from great. O'Bie learned to recruit and
Al was great at recruiting and both of them were very good coaches.
The answer to RECRUITING and WINNINING is
Jared Dudley (Head) , Danya Abrams (big men) , Howard Eisley , Malcolm Huckabee .
DO IT "FOR BOSTON" and TJ Hurley

How do you catch "lightning in a bottle"? BC better figure it out pd quick. Recruiting is a big part of the puzzle. The latest coaches were good coaches.----St. Louis University was terrible since Ed Macauley of Bill Russell trade fame. Rick Majerus got the gig through a big donation from Chaifetz. Both had a background in Utah with the Jazz. He could really recruit. The coaching was done by Jim Crews who played with Bobby Knight on a national championship team. He could really coach but he couldn't recruit. When Rick Majerus died, he was toast.-----Majerus recruited kangeroos in New Zealand and Australia. Gonzaga does the same. BC might take notice. Jayson Tatum is from St. Louis. He headed for Duke and then the NBA. ---- Travis Ford is the new coach at SLU. He played at Mizzou and then Kentucky and then a short time in the NBA. He is bringing in transfers by the boatload. This is what the kids want. They want a chance at the "big drink of water" and want coaches who can "pump up that dream".---BC needs to do it differently. Al Skinner was successful and then BC wanted to move on. Academics are not drawing good players. Maybe BC needs to have academic majors beyond philosophy.----If BC wants to get that "lightning in a bottle", then someone needs to do things differently.

ATL is just guzzling the company line these days. Christian is "probably gone" this year? he can't retain his own recruited players, our graduation rate has gone down bigly, and he's 6-48 in conference. he is an out and out disaster and the school should announce heading into the season this will be his last.

GE, I doubt we'd eat 4 years of the contract. 3, maybe. And from what I hear of him, he's a good, decent guy. Clearly, he's overmatched here. Then again, I could say the same for Addazio. Bates's legacy will live on for a while, sadly. Martin Jarmond has his work cut out for him.

The basketball program is a mess and no coach will be able to turn things around in just one year. That said, Christian is now two years into his original 5 year contract (plus the extra one year extension) so progress needs to be made this year or he will likely get the boot and BC will have to eat three years of pay. I am not confident that Christian is capable of delivering the goods but I am hopeful that we can land one or two decent transfers and show some progression. If Christian can put up six ACC wins that would indicate real progress.
