It turned into a glorified scrimmage. But I will hold my point that if we are going to do that, it might as well be against Holy Cross. No major problems. No major injuries and lots of experience for the backups.
I will have grades up late Sunday.

ATL and for those who did not watch tbe game:
While it was absolutely great to see our offensie and defense dominate another week from start to finish, there remains one major problem — special teams. We gave up 2 blocked punts for TDs and yet another missed PAT.
I don’t care if it was during garbage time or who the personnel on the field is. This is a coaching problem. And it will lose us games against any teams not named UMass or Holy Cross.
While this is the most talented team we have had in years, we are not that good that we can afford weak, undisciplined special teams play. Very concerning.
No major problems? Major problem may be understanding the disastrous special teams unit.
Even the second team offense was pretty bad.
Five years now and dazoshit still can't recruit an adequate kicker. Come on Daz apologists, explain this crap.
Hey - Clemson just got an unbelievable call at A&M. Clemson can be had - good as they are.
Much of the ACC sucks this year.
Dabo blew this if A&M ties it up.
I'm not overly concerned about the two punt blocks. Addazio stated in the press conference that it was the 3rd String punt team in. When the rest of the ACC is struggling hard against OOC opponents to include FSU with Samford, I'm happy with today's results. Just remember, we benched our offensive starters halfway through the first quarter.
I saw Daz’s post game comments. Here’s the thing: they knew it was going to be a blow out, so what did they do all week to prepare for the game? It’s not like they had to seriously game plan. Wouldn’t you prepare 2nd and 3rd stringers for all aspects of the game?
Great overall result no question and offense and defense look more solid than they have in years. But Daz’s dismissal of the special teams performance (even if it was with players lower in depth chart) is indicative of his biggest weakness as a head coach — be accountable, don’t accept or make excuses for mediocrity and fix the problem.
2nd team offense is bad. Yeah, ok. Like that matters in college ball. Come on. These aren’t 46 man rosters.
Absurd. I guess if you want to complain.
Yes the punt unit screwed up. Ok. Must be nice to screw up and win by 48. Kinda think that’s the point?
There are so many dumb things being said over at BCI from the regulars there that I just give up.
Wag more. Bark less?
OT but I wonder if the ACC will postpone the WF game due to Florence or move it up here. Since they're in our division, we could just play at WF next year instead of having them come up to the Heights. The logistics of moving the game on short notice would not be trivial, I'm sure.
With all the lopsided games during the first 2 weeks, it's tough to figure who is for real.
I think Wake Forest is better than a lot of people think. It will be a game that shows whether or not we are ready for the ACC and whether or not we are ready for a good year.
I think that we are and I hope to see pay back on Thursday night. I'll be flying back into Atlanta late Thursday afternoon, so I guess I should start watching the weather.
Go BC - beat Wake Forest!
With a Thursday night start, it'll be close with regards to Florence. The current projection is for landfall in NC in the wee hours Friday morning. Probably a fair amount of wind and rain in advance of the storm. At best, it'll probably be a messy game. Dillon will get more than 6 carries!
Time to find DAS BOOT II with soccer program and time to get an assistant who can
correctly evaluate place kickers
9 Regular season wins or BYE- BYE DAZZLE-NOT
GO BC DO IT "FOR BOSTON"
All teams play walk overs...I get it...the CFB schedule was rift with them yesterday. What BC doesn't need is a game that developmentally does nothing to enhance their potential success going forward in this season. HC may be FCS, but they are at a very, very low rung, and simply because they were HC, and not a Jesuit school by some other name, Addazio prematurely pulled his offensive starters. Was the game in doubt as a result. Absolutely not. What was in doubt was just how well prepared, how well seasoned this first offense is, going forward once they encounter real competition. Playing 12 plays is a waste and demonstrated nothing other than HC was incapable of competing. It said nothing, and contributed nothing, to BC's progress for the balance of this season. Two games in the bank, and the offense hasn't played 60 minutes yet.
Mod, don't pretend that the BC was a powerhouse in special teams. Frieze and Quigly were probably our two best kickers and punters, and yes we're recruited. But don't forget that BCs most successful kicker was Aponovicious, who, by the way, started off as a walk on, because our kickers were so terrible. Let's not kid ourselves that we were flush with talent before Daz. Just enjoy the win man. You don't have to make a hobby out of hating on BC..
*were
A lot of self hate in here. It’s a weird complex shared by many BC fans. Probably cuz they’re too upset to acknowledge the guy they hate has taken classes ranked in the 60s and 70s and developed them into a top 25 squad. Keep hating but when we’re going to a New Years 6 bowl I hope you sit at home and sulk. We don’t want you at the game anyway
I agree that Special teams need work. As they have for most of Daz's tenure. But yesterday was solid execution all around, blocked punts aside. The good news - that special teams unit won't being seeing the field Thursday
NYC -- I don't think there is a lot of self hate here. I think everyone is pretty excited about this team and their prospects. No question Daz has assembled one of the more talented teams we have had on offense and defense in years. Lots of potential.
There is a definite (and deserved) skepticism that Daz can collectively prepare and manage the talent in game so that they perform to that potential. That is the difference between a great head coach and a great coordinator.
He set expectations high and now it is time for him to deliver. We all want to see that happen. If he finishes the year in the Top 25 and gets them playing to their potential, you will be hearing a different tune here. But it's a thin margin for error at this point --if he serves up excuses and cannot deliver, he has to go. That simple.
CT, you know as well as I do that injuries happen so backups are important. BC seemingly gets tons of injuries ever year which leads to Daz’s excuses. The fact that scholarship backups in a power 5 FBS school struggled against a bottom feeding FCS school does not bode well when those injuries inevitably hit.
On the first block,it looked like Carlson was shuffling to his right for one of those rugby style kicks. Why? I have no idea and it is a big question going forward.
On top of that, he took an extra step or two, and literally punted (ran) into the oncoming blocker. A straight punt may have worked.
So, why are we coaching this stupid punt on the run B.S.? Reports from camp we're that Carlson was kicking very well and knocking them off the roof.
This is on the coaches so far, in my opinion. The kid looks confused back there
The second block was straight in, and the blocker basically took it off Carlson's foot.
If we don't get this fixed, a potential very good year could turn sour because of punting - place kicking - and snapping the ball.
We don't even know about punting and kick off coverage yet, really.
How sad would that be?
Poor Nate Freese is likely still recovering from his disastrous experience with the Lions. He was just never able to settle down and get over the jitters in the NFL. I felt so badly for him, as he was so good for BC.
They we're probably studying tape of Wake and Temple. If they were training the third string long snapper then they would be wasting their time given the short week.
So his average is down from high school. We hqlave played UMass and HC. Maybe he is saving his leg for Wake Forest. everyone should be thankful for that given the first hurricane of the season and "petrification" everyone here has for weather and wake fucking forest, sad.
Any way his average is down from high school( I want proof of that before I believe any bullshit you dragged off the internet). Deal with it. You like VT? when they fall on the ground pretending to be injured every time someone makes a big play against them. Only you would espouse lowlife VT, Mod.
There will never be a change in tune here from Mod. His comments suck and TGS likes them.
Braves, were we a top 10 or 20 program, u might have a point. Even the guys that play on Sundays have very little depth. Just saying that Oklahoma we are not. Or whomever.
Anybody think BC could beat Alabama's or Georgia's second strings?
We have beaten both of those teams in the past - but, I know - it's a whole different deal now.
To beat their 2nd and 3rd strings, we would have to reasonably control the lines of scrimmage. ☺️
Maybe our 4th and 5th year experienced players against their relatively inexperienced players.
Screw em - kick their butts. Play them in the cold, sleet and sideways rain. ☺️
I wondered where Nate had gone. I thought he might have been trying to get his head straight with a sports psychologist - he was such a talented kicker for BC.
Jalen Hurts, who is outstanding, is the 2nd string QB for 'Bama; it would be very tough for BC to beat them, but I'd love to see us try.
Alabama has better coaching. They have 2x the number of coaches and 3 times the budget. Our Dline depth is a weakness. Ny the middle of the 3rd quarter we wpuld be worn out there. Other than that we are just as good as Alabama this season. LSU and Georgia are better than Alabama this year too
Not so sure I agree with both LSU and GA being better, though I would personally love it. LSU looked very strong against Miami; we'll see how they stack up against a very good Auburn team.
Are there any limits to the number of coaches a college team is allowed?
