BC returns to the rankings

When BC was ranked earlier in the season, things did not go well. Purdue slapped them around and even Addazio would admit they were looking ahead and lost focus. Well, the coach has a chance to fix that as BC is ranked again.

As for specifics, BC is in the Coaches 25 Poll and 24 in the AP Poll. Let's hope the stay in the rankings last longer than Addazio's last time and that this time around the team keep moving up.

Extremely looking forward to the VaTech game. It'll be my first live game experience since the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl back in 2010/2011. From Daz's comments, the team had looked ahead past Purdue. I'm hoping they don't make the same mistake with VT. I'd rather not spend an evening getting shellacked.

bceagle91 said...

If they didn't learn from Purdue, they deserve to get shellacked. I think they'll be ready to go. VT and FSU are our best remaining shots. SU will be tough and Clemson is obviously better.

If BC had Bama's non conference schedule they would probably be undefeated. Ark.St., Louisiana, The Citadel and Louisville. Dillon would not have been injured against a decent Temple team and his availability vs. NC ST could have been the difference. Compare Bama to Pitt. Pitt played ND, UCF and Penn. St. Three top 15 teams. Bama has had a very weak schedule.Shame.
.2. Great win on Friday against the U. The top three defenses in the country are Michigan, Miami and Clemson. They allow 200 yards, 262 yards and 265 Yards a contest respectively. If they play the way they did against Miami good things will happen. But their last two road games were poor performances 3. The number 4 team in the land is LSU. LSU beat Miami 33-17. BC beat them 27-14. LSU accumulated 300 yards of offense while giving up 300. BC had 420 yards and gave up three hundred. Miami had 12 penalties called against them vs. LSU. They played a sloppy game. Against BC they played a clean game and were still beaten more decisively. Could BC be in LSU's category?

Your two bit analysis has been eviscerated too.

There are some pretty big name schools not in the Top 25 now - so let's show we are worthy.

At Virginia Tech - winnable
Clemson - Oh Boy - they are a juggernaught.
At FSU - winnable
Syracuse - Last game on Thanksgiving Weekend. This could be a huge game for both schools and it will show younger fans how we once had a good rivalry with the Orange(men) and that a successful season for BC often had to go through Syracuse - or not!

BC has to figure out how to fill the stadium on November 24th.

Interesting note - Syracuse plays Notre Dame at Yankee Stadium the week before coming to Chestnut Hill. I think the Irish could be in for an upset.

That would make our last game all the more block-busting.

Go BC - beat Virginia Tech.

The game against VT is huge. I wish GT had not pounded the Hokies. Good teams usually respond to a poor performance. VT is not great by any stretch of the imagination but they are not a bad team (ODU lose is perplexing though) either. Game is in Blacksburg which is always a tough place to play. If we don’t cough the ball up and Brown plays well then I see us prevailing. GO EAGLES.

You keep saying dumb shit and convince yourself that somehow it is my fault.

There you go. You found it. The band is known as the Screaming Eagles.

Where is the new win probability analysis? Make sure it based on Independent win probabilities and not your personal win predictions. Dummy.

I will look back 6 years and won't find anything of value that you have contributed here. Not a single original insight.

Your life's work a total waste. Although TGS seems to enjoy it.

You think I am telling a weirdo who pulls up a comment from 2012 which dorm I lived in. No way. I recommend you find something to do. And try to make it something that does have anything to do with Ryan Day.

For Mod and Khead from BC's own site.

Because somehow posting what dorm you supposedly lived in 50 years ago as a freshman threatens your privacy and/or personal safety? I lived in Cushing on Newton Campus ... now I need to go run and hide as I am fearful of my safety. The other guy with what is presumably the mod he lived in as a senior, must live in daily fear for his well being.

And you wonder why your application to BC was returned unopened?

Fenwick--first two years--Southwell House --last two years, after PYB awarded me honorary "Doctorate".

I guess our only hope these days is that DAZ will have one great season and be offered his real "Dream Job" elsewhere.

I get so crazy when I think that Mike Leach was available when we were searching for a hc. I enjoy watching WSU for the sheer joy of seeing a modern offense in action.

NYCEagle said...

Lenny just curious, did you watch the Miami game? That was a brilliantly called game on offense. Loeffler was pushing all the right buttons. The “vaunted” Miami defense never looked comfortable. First team to go for over 330 against them, and we put up almost 450...

mod34 is a fuc&%ing moron. Godd prediction on the miami game you dumb fu%&. and I don't believe for a second he went to BC. Too effing stupid.

Big Jack Krack said...

NYCEagle - The last 5 minutes were basically kneel downs and additionally a few plays leading up to the missed field goal weren't all that stellar with maybe 8 minutes to go.

Our coaches go ultra conservative/cautious in games like this.

The point is, we could have gone over 500 yards against The U if we cared about statistics.

Lenny, I always respect your posts. I must say that I don't know if Mike Leach would run such a solid program as Addazio in terms of the balance between academics and sports, violent football and young men of character - great representatives of Boston College.

This is not a knock on Mike Leach, who has nothing but good things to say about BC. I just don't know if he would have been a good fit, as much as I love his offense.

But except for his terrible game plans and play calling at times (we shoot ourselves in the foot for no reason), I think Addazio has our program in a good place overall. And I yell and scream at him as much as anyone, because for 6 seasons I have thought he could be a better game coach.

But the players seem to really like the Head Coach and his staff - and that's very important as "free agency" looms. We need to have a good mix of 4 and 5 year players on the roster to compete and we want them to stay in the program and develop.

I don't want to see us break in another coaching staff right now - unless he completely blows the VT, FSU and Syracuse games and goes 0 and 4 coming down the stretch. Clemson is probably too much of a stretch (unless it's a night game in cold and rain).

Go BC.

BCAlum2000 said...

Big Jack, great post. Spot on.

I am as big a critic of Adazzio as you will find, but he definitely has buy in. He needs to improve drastically as a game-day coach with much of that being the need for him to leave the offense alone. Losing Don Brown might have been the biggest mistake of his entire tenure at BC.

BC played VERY well against Miami for good chunks of the game. They definitely could have beaten them by more. The real test will be how they respond this weekend in Blacksburg. Despite how bad VT has looked this year, this is always a tough place to play. BC is a better team. No doubt about it on paper. That said, they were also a better team on paper than Purdue and NC State. Getting back-to-back top performances has been difficult for Adazzio.

I also agree that Leach might not have been the best fit at BC. BC always has to base its teams around big, strong, physical line play, solid RB's and solid defense overall. Skill position players are definitely a bonus. You have to give Adazzio credit for the level of skill position talent he has brought in. Both on offense (WR's in particular) and defense (DB's ... who would have ever thought that BC would be a NFL feeder school for DB's?).

waiting six years for.)
Leo Durocher ,great baseball manager and also a player put it best
"NICE GUYS FINISH LAST. We all know how Vince Lombardi felt about winning.
Some one slightly better than Tom O'Brien would be nice.
Nine regular season wins and bowl win or NO EXTENSION !!!!!!!

NO ONE IS GOING TO STEAL DAZZO-SHIT !!!!!!!!!

The kickoff time against Clemson won't be decided until this Sunday. If we win the Virginia Tech game, we'll probably have a night game against Clemson, and we'll have a decent shot at College GameDay with no other super interesting games besides the Miss St/Alabama game. Go BC! Beat Virgina Tech!

Gonzaga is pretty boring now. Parties are only in rooms. Much better places to go.

Big Jack Krack said...

Parties off campus were always better IMHO, because we didn't have to duck Fr. Hanrahan. Right Lenny?

Anyway, I lived off campus.

Just a little off topic, but Boston is and Boston College is such a special place to be - and with the added excitement of the professional teams that run for all the marbles frequently.

I understand that many are not from Massachusetts or those parts of New England that root for Boston teams.

But the summer and fall of my senior year was so exhilarating because of the Red Sox run for the Pennant for the first time in many years (there were no divisions then) as well as all the school stuff. And of course the Celtics (and Bruins).

I don't know about Lenny. :-)

So as Boston basks in the glory of another Parade (I think 38 in my lifetime), let's travel to Blacksburg with the singular purpose of beating the Hokies by controlling the LOS, dominating them and scoring early and often!

Go BC - beat Virginia Tech. We can do this!!!!!!!

Vvcworld.com said...

wow this is a good content. thanks sports news

Big Jack Krack said...

So Virginia Tech's best win, I think, was against Duke.

To me, that means we have to take this game very seriously, because the Hokies can rise up from time to time. Duke pasted Northwestern early in the season.

Let's hope we mix up the game plan and keep the play book open in it's entirety (save a couple for Clemson) to control this game.

We NEED this win! We WANT this win! We DESERVE this win! We are going to Blacksburg TO GET this win!

Go BC - beat the Blacksburg hex and beat the Virginia Tech Hokies.
