Midweek links

Future Eagle Donnie Fletcher is the first player from his Cleveland program to head to the ACC.

Skinner keeps finding talent in random places. Here is an article on one of our two Colorado commits.

Here are two articles (first and second) on the ACC bowl picture. It is starting to feel like Orange Bowl or bust for BC.

As I have stated before, this ACCCG in Jacksonville is our "Bowl Game". As long as these bowl officials persist in choosing teams because of their fan base rather than who is better and more deserving and capable of playing a better competitive game - then we realize more and more that they are a joke.

This game Saturday is the most important game for BC in many, many years - I don't care about the Chick-fil-A or the Gator - the Gator is becoming a joke anyway.

You know what I'd really like to see some day, after a successful season involving a championship game (not this year because we're going to win) where BC loses?

The (insert name of Dink Bowl only interested in filling the seats) extended an invitation to Boston College (after it was by-passed by Atlanta, Jacksonville and Orlando, etc. )

Boston College declined to accept the invitation and the players happily returned home to their families to enjoy the holidays!!!!!

That's what I'd really like to see - even though it will never happen. They're ruining college football anyway - these jerks. I used to think these Bowls were so important - there's no question they are a reward for the teams hard work, and for the players - but really Boise? SF at Christmas time? Nashville? Charlotte? They are nice locations and fun places, but who's going to spend a lot of money going to meaningless bowls in those locations at a time of year that involves heavy spending anyway.

A bowl game is to take your family to a warm climate (from the north) and enjoy a few days with the team in south or central Florida, etc.

Do the right thing Atlanta/Chick-fil-A? I don't think they know what that means.

We're above these people.

All you can root for is to win you conference, the rest is nonsense - especially this year.

BTW, that's the second article from a local paper posted here that referred to the "Golden Eagles" ... go Marquette!

Bottom line - BC will never play in the Fast Food Sandwich Bowl or Gator Bowl as long as the bowl reps are allowed to select whomever they feel like based on the number of losses.

It doesn't matter if BC is selling out Gillette on a weekly basis. VT and Clemson are ALWAYS going to have more fans going to these games because of the proximity of their schools to the bowl sites and the fact that these programs are the pro sports / only thing going on in these areas.

Those programs are always going to have more rabid fans and travel better. So as long as the choice is available to the bowl rep to take the folks who view their program as the only game in town or those Yankees who actually have entertainment options, they are going to go local.

Based on the current system, BC can only end up in the Orange (the have to take us) or - in order - Champs, Music City, Charlotte, Emerald or Boise.

No bowl rep will every select us for Atlanta or Jax when the local university can deliver 25,000 fans cus they all live within a four hour drive of the game site.

BC should just sponsor a bowl in Bangor and invite Clemson every year. Let's see how those Tigers travel then.

BaldEagle90 - because of the "BC Rule," we aren't eligible to go to Music City, Emerald or Boise.

Our only options are Orange, Peach, Gator or Champs.

How well did Miami sell it's allotment of tickets to Boise last year? Or FSU in SF? Do those schools really sell for bad bowls?

How are we doing on the ticket sales to Jacksonville - does anyone know?

It seems as though more and more people are stepping up and purchasing tickets for donation purposes. I think that's great and something for which we can be proud.

I bet a lot more people would do that if someone just asked them - The BC Ticket Office, the Boston Media, the Fenway Sports Group - somebody!
