US News rankings and other links

US News & World Report released their latest college rankings. BC came in 34th. We seem to be stuck in that 30-40 range. With every school overly focused on this list, I think you'll see a bottle neck and little jockeying for the next few years.

The ACC Now has a decent outlook on our season.

SI.com thinks Haden is an impact freshman.

Nice article on Gause in the Herald.

Has anyone read the new Forbes college and university rankings? Sure we still fall in the same range (#32) but check out where the likes of Notre Dame, Duke, etc. fall...

How to explain the drop in Alumni Giving (24% last year, 21% this year)? Wasn't donor-based seating supposed to help increase this?

I think the only way BC has any hope of breaking into the 20's would be a large increase in alumni giving. Other then that, I agree we won't move much as it gets harder to move up the higher you go.

That US News list is a joke.

where does BC anticipate being once all of the renovations are finished? will that move them up?

the new academic buildings that are a part of the master plan might move them up. i'm not sure how much those rankings take quality of dorms or athletic facilities into account. a note on haden: i met a former D2 fball player who went to a PSU football camp with him when Haden was in 8th grade and this kid was in high school and said he was a freakish athlete. nothing we didnt know, but he seemed pretty confident he was going to be the real deal.

BC is moving up the rankings. In the mid to late 90's we consistently were ranked in the high 30's, and I remember slipping as low as #39 one year. These days we're generally #34 or #35. At first this doesn't seem like a lot. But these rankings are pretty static as everyone's pointing out, and we're now in the midst of some pretty tough competition, so for us to move up 4-5 spots on a consistent basis is a big deal.

With the new master plan and the continued positive press we seem to get, I have no doubt we'll continue our upward trajectory.
