If Spaz has a good year, he will be offered a contract. if he doesn't then I guess we not only lost Jags, we lose Spaz as well.

Chances that Spaz will only be the interim insofar as the off-season/recruiting is concerned and that they will look to replace him with a permanent solution before the Spring practice season?

on WEEI right now

Full internal and external search. YES

so how much of his emotion was some sly acting by gene?

Gene is one of the all-time great slicksters. Academy award winning performance right now

I understand Gene's upset but why won't he say that he wants a coach who will win, and that kids come to BC because they want to win? He could've prepped for this conference a little better and been a little more gung-ho about selling the school to recruits and commits given the state of disarray he and Jags have put the program in.

The Globe is going to run a story showing Jags making 16 calls to Jim Mora Jr in the last 6 weeks…..locking up the Seattle OC job. He has Favre make the interview with the Jets so he can raise his asking price to the Seahawaks. Jags meeting with Gene this morning to be fired. Spazz in as the coach. Logan leaves. Day (wr coach, young guy I guess well liked) is the new OC. Bicknell, who is close with Spazz stays. 5 of their top 7 recruits have already said they are still onboard. Day is recruiting QB Tajh Boyd.

I listened to the conference and Gene indicated that the in house candidates deserve the first opportunity at the head coaching gig.

I really hope he does not mean this. While he should defintitley consider them, he needs to do a national search and look at all viable candidates. He especially should not give Spaz or Bicknell Jr an edge simply because they are here already. If they interview well and Gene truly 1belives they are best - fine. Otherwise I would much rather prefer an external choice

cullenmi: are you just speculating, or do you actually have a source on any of that? I'm guessing the former...

Rivals.com - "Tajh Boyd met with Clemson assistants Billy Napier and Danny Pearman Monday night. The four-star athlete, billed by Rivals.com as the No. 3 dual threat quarterback in the nation, is officially visiting Clemson this weekend. In this interview, Boyd talks about that upcoming trip, a previous one he took to Clemson several years ago, his meeting with Napier and Pearman, overall recruitment and more."

Lost in all of this - I'm guessing this means Herzy is gone. Unless Spaz is HC. Maybe.

Jags won't be Seattle OC...and Jets seems to be out...so what is he doing????

It's Knapp
Greg Knapp is the Seahawks' new offensive coordinator. There will not be an official announcement until he signs his contract, but the move has been confirmed.

The hiring of Knapp is a big move for Jim Mora in his first season as head coach, since the coordinator will have a lot of control over the offense because Mora's background and expertise is on the defensive side of the ball.

Knapp and Mora worked together in San Francisco and also Atlanta, where Mora was the head coach for three seasons before coming to the Seahawks as secondary coach in 2007.

Knapp's hiring also should squelch some of the silly reports concerning the future of Matt Hasselbeck as the quarterback of the team – which today included a story out of Minnesota that the Vikings could acquire Hasselbeck for a second-round draft choice.

ps Culliema is oulling a jags..

From a Seahak Blog -

One of the first things Mora did when Knapp arrived at the Seahawks headquarters was put him on the phone with Hasselbeck to discuss the upcoming season and the offense.
