rice and jackson were cold-blooded killers late in the game. ice in the veins baby.
How schizophrenic was Roche? Without him we lose this game. Without him...maybe we win easy? Insanity.
Rice played great as did Sanders and Trapani. Only really weak link was Paris tonight. Southern decided after the first shot of the game to just buckle down and play D.
But for the love of all that's holy, do you EVER remember giving up that MANY offensive rebounds (A) and (B) still winning? Crazy.
Game was absolutely fantastic- have wanted to rush to court for four years.
Lost in the win was Rice's 2,000 pt.- congrats kid.
Also- Jared Dudley was courtside, and was just as into the game as the student section. The guy was on the edge of his seat all game, jumping almost on the court of play on multiple occasions. Oh yah, and he- yes Dudley- stormed the court with everyone else- hilarious.
Best Game I have attened at BC so far...Atmosphere was great...I will never forget storming the court with Jared Dudley...unreal...Lets keep it going...Go Eagles!
As a former stormer myself back in the mid-'90s, I'm thankful the students got that memory tonight.
The announcers were very complimentary about the atmosphere tonight.
The play-by-play announcer referenced how BC might get more attention in Boston now, a "pro sports town," as he said. The color commentator rightfully said, "they've made the postseason six out of the last seven years, what more do they have to do to get attention?" Amen.
And here's a blurb from the AP story:
"In usually -- in college basketball arena terms -- quiet Conte Forum, nearly all the fans were in their seats a few minutes before tipoff, offering a totally different atmosphere that was highlighted with chants of "Let's Go Eagles" echoing from the student sections behind the baskets and throughout the building."
A backhanded compliment, huh?
Nice team effort tonight. Thankfully, Duke lacks height and athleticism.
No letdowns, please.
ESPN, and anywhere else, for that matter, is all about the backhanded comments when it comes to us and doing well. We "inexplicably stormed the field" against Virginia Tech (and it was true enough, I guess) but they love hating on us in that subtle way.
HUGE night at Conte. This is the atmosphere that I would love to see on a more regular basis. The noise was so deafening in the last minute no one could hear the whistle blow. Kudos to the students, and even the stodgy oldsters joined in the "let's go eagles" chant at the end. This was.....fun.
Can we really take issue with the national media insulting our crowds when we're constantly complaining about them?
It wasn't a complaint.
Unfortunate that it gets mentioned after a big win.
But not surprising.
I got to hug tyrese. Anyone have video of the court rush? If you can find a good link, post it here please.
Tremendous effort all around. A strange line-up on the court at crunch time---Roche and Trapani, the roomies had a strong game. Trapani turned the ball over, but more than made up for it. Kudos to Tyrese for 2000+, Jackson was big (but needs to act like he has done it before---missed 25 secs of a 30 sec. timeout cheerleading).
Did a better job of rebounding second half. Cutting it from -13 to -5 at half was BIG! The 3 guard offense is a must vs. the pressure!
Go Eagles!
P.S. Al, you could have used at least 1 of your 4 timeouts late in the game???!! What a shame the Dookies have lost 3 road games in a row, sob, sob. Coach K was working the refs as much as he could. Stat of the game---shooting percenatge 58.8!!!!!
This will be the second time I've posted tonight, but that's because I still can't believe what happened at that game. The last three minutes of that game is a just a blur to me and I never truly believed what was happening until they started fouling us in the final minute. Sitting on the floor in the student section the atmosphere was electric and unlike anything I have experienced in my four years...there was just so much energy the whole game, backhanded comments or not the Conte Coffin was certainly not that tonight. Highlight was probably seeing a head security guard telling the others to just let the students by as soon as the game was over. Storming the court was unbelievable.
People, I'm lovin' this in L.A.--all the PAC-10 folks here, and a zillion Domers in SoCal have to read about BC in the L.A. Times tomorrow at breakfast, and how our young BC Eagle ballers rocked the Dukies! It was way fun to watch our kids keep their composure down the stretch. Normally, I'm catatonic in the last 2 minutes with fear of us blowing the lead...but this time we just played tough D at the close and contested everything with smarts. Roche and Reggie, Trapani and Rice--all of 'em grew up some today. It was way cool--Go Eagles! Conte looked so wild, and it was great to see the BC kids really enjoy this. It really should say alot to the BC kids about how very crucial their presence is at ALL the games. Strong magic, that. Enjoy it Eagle Nation--there's more to come.
mmason, youre ideas are intriguing to me and id like to subscribe to your newsletter. you are like spicoli, just better. 'all i need are some tastey waves and a cool buzz...'
I'm so shocked we were able to sell tickets to a Duke basketball game. Whodathunkit.
I wonder if we could get butts in the seat for a USC football game?
great video of the rush, which i was the first one on the court from the right... and i celebrated with jared dudley and the rest of the starters... my brother got tackled by security...
