Postgame video and other links

Lots of video from the big win. Here are some of the better ones.

Jared Dudley on the court after the game.

Skinner talking about the win.

Aponavicius, Castonzo, Montel Harris and Herzlich all made the 2009 All-ACC Academic Football Team.

Women's basketball beat Miami to improve to 6-4 in ACC play.

Jared Dudley wasn't the only former Eagle on campus Sunday night. Sean Williams made his return and for old time sake got arrested by BCPD.

Here is a one student's perspective on the win. (Thanks to Jackie for the link.)

HD took a look at our schedule next year.

Oh man, that Williams story is rich. Who woulda ever saw that coming?

funny to note in addition about williams is that they now have a wall in Conte with plaques of all the guys and girls who have gone on to play in the pros for men's and women's hoops and for men's hockey. they have other guys who left early (orpik, kolanos, etc) but the only glaring omission is sean williams

they obviously want absolutely nothing to do with him

How an ACC crowd should be Al? I agree 110%, but how about you make an effort? Opposed to saying, "we're not interested" when approached with the idea of a pep rally to generate interest around the program. The mens and womens hockey teams and womens basketball team had no problem doing the "Mid-Winter Madness". There was one glaring omission of a team not there. Hell Al, you don't even need to show up. Just send your players down for an hour. Is it that hard? Maybe people will pack Conte like they did 3-4 years ago.

the bball team was originally supposed to be involved, but they had the change the date b/c of snow. i think there was a scheduling conflict with the "snow date."

oh man williams, you couldn't make that stuff up. on the note of alumni relations, you never hear Romanowski's name mentioned as a BC guy either. that is probably on purpose as well.

Williams probably needs to have a complete crash before he gets up, but I hope someone from BC is there when he is ready to get up.

The Williams thing was laugh out loud funny, thanks for sharing

Oates,
I don't know how connected you are but I'm calling BS on that one.

I could have given a more in depth analysis of our schedule without ever seeing it.

Williams was invited to the game by the BC staff. For him to get arrested is more embarassing for the school for not having it's shit together. I have a lot of problems with Williams too, but I think we have to cut him a break on this one.

To back oates up just a little bit (excellent username btw) I knew someone on the planning staff for the Midwinter Pep Rally and the date that they settled on did come up pretty late in the process. I don't know if they had to reschedule it because of snow, but I think it's understandable that Al didn't want his team at this event this time. They were just coming off a series of frustrating losses with the Duke game on the horizon; I'm glad they stayed focused, even if I would have loved to see them at the rally.

I usually like HD's column, but come on. "They also benefit by getting three Atlantic Division foes on their home turf" ??? Ummm, that is the case for every team, every year...it's called a rotating schedule.

HD's column gives all aspiring writers hope.

my comment was based on the fact that the original invitation had men's bball team included on it, while the invitation for the make up date did not. i have no connections haha.

and man aren't we all so happy to have herzlich coming back. you have to figure he's the favorite for butkus award this year

The "we're not interested" is the quote from one of the people who organized the event told me after I asked why they wouldn't be there.

MID-WINTER MADNESS

On Wednesday January 28th at 9:00PM, our Men's Hockey and Basketball teams will come together in the Power Gym to gear up for the final push of their seasons! With the Beanpot and tough ACC opponents on the horizon, both squads will be doing everything they can to make that final push towards their NCAA tournaments...and they need your help! The first 800 students in attendance will get a FREE, ONE OF A KIND SuperFan Hockey or Basketball JERSEY! Also, starting at 8:30PM from the Power Gym, tours of Conte (including private locker rooms, weight rooms, media rooms, etc) will be lead by student athletes. Students are welcome and encouraged to come early, SECURE A JERSEY, and get a private tour of Conte! Contact Justin (justin.robinson.1@bc.edu) with any questions.

that is copy and pasted from the ugbc email i received. the event was then moved to february 12th due to snow and the men's team was not included on the announcement. so they were interested, but the timing must not have been right for the team.

don't attack skinner. bc fans are front runners. they packed conte 3-4 years ago because they knew we had a solid team that was nationally ranked and recognized. this year, you have a group that is pretty good and is exceeding expectations and people don't show up b/c they don't see our name in the rankings. they show up for the duke game because of the name, but clemson and wake weren't like that even though, in my opinion, they are better teams this year.

it shows that bc students really aren't great fans, any college basketball fan would recognize the 3 as being equal and show up and cheer equally for all 3

The fact he was invited and then arrested makes BC look like a joke. I always thought BC police were very heavy handed compared to similar schools around the country. I have even spoke to the University about this as an alumni, they really don't care.

johnoatesforthree said...

@harrow

where did you get the info that he was invited? it wasn't mentioned in the SI article

johnoates,

http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2009/02/nj_nets_the_sean_matter.html

its right here. BC looks like fools, I have always referred to BC police as the gestapo. I have been to universitites such as Williams, Harvard, Middlebury, Yale, MIT, ND, BU, Duke, to visit others. I graduated from BC and always had a problem with how they treated their students.

HA! BC pulls the ole' "we're gonna invite you, and then arrest your ass" trick! I love it!

P.S. Does anyone else get wierd word verifications for their posts? "Dinglog" just doesn't seem right.
