In-game comments post: ACC Tournament

Since this is a day game and many will be at their PCs, it only makes sense to have a in-game comments post. Virginia is undermanned and on a major losing streak. This shouldn't even be close...but we have the most inconsistent team in the conference! Let's hope this is the start of a nice run and not the end of a season.

How is it that the ACC can't get these games on TV? Ridiculous.

Because who would care to watch it? Half of the BE tourney games were on 360 also.

Please take this team out of my misery. We should have a nice homecourt advantage, we're used to playing in front of no one.

I'm actually able to watch the game here down in South Carolina. After refusing to watch this garbage for most of the season, I actually tuned in for today's game. And boy did I forget how truly awful this team is. And I don't exactly know what Al is thinking. He does this year after year. When BC is struggling to score, he has all his best scorers on the bench save one. Today, Trapani was the only scorer on the floor (and he can't even create his own shot), while both Sanders and Raji were riding pine. I don't exactly know how a lineup of Trapani, Roche, Southern, Elmore, and Paris is going to score. And boy they sure didn't either. Once the inbecile Al put this lineup on the floor, VA went on a 17-2 run to turn a 6 point BC lead into a 9 point VA lead. BC scored all of 4 points in the last 10 minutes of the half. And of course since Al is Al, he hoarded his timeouts and refused to use one to try to stop VA's run. What a horrible coach and a miserable team. BC is lucky to be down only 7 at the half.

UVA is bad. But we dug deep to find a way to score less points.

I spent $15 on lunch watching that half.

Sanders seems to be able to score at will with the mismatch at the low post... guess we've decided that would be too easy and would rather challenge ourselves by trying to win by forcing off balance jump shots.

You think Al is taking notes on how to run a proper in bounds play? Or if this is his last game at BC?

At this point, we're better not having watched it, but ALL of the BE games were on ESPN or ESPNU.

Not sure where you guys are, but this BC game is on NESNHD

So much for this year...

this team didn't deserve a postseason. neither did Skinner.

At least now there's ammunition if next year is as truly horrible as this one.

No Landesberg, UVA riding a 9 game losing streak, a shot at Duke, and this team STILL looked like crap.

terrible, terrible stuff.

I don't know how pointing out the pretty obvious is being a doom and gloomer. If there are any bright spots to take out of this loss, by all means please educate me. The team was horrible the last 30 mins of the game. But let's see what a polyannish Al apologist like yourself can concoct in his support. It sure should be interesting.

Please, don't sell yourself short.. you see darker and deeper into the abyss than anyone else..

I am sure you can fault a whole lot of things that the mere fan cannot see.

I am awaiting the ripping...and you are right too....that's the best part about it!

Hmm, wonder where this game from Sanders was all year?

23 pts for the good guys with 10+mins left in the 1st half. Finished with 27 with the "B" team losing momentum, as BBill mentioned earlier. BC looked like Lilliputians out there against an undermanned foe. Too little offensive talent. Again.

Alas, no NIT. What a blessing.

I was so much happier in 1998 when we went 6-21. They tried. Thank you Dwayne Pena for at least trying. You running the point would have given this year's team 5 more wins.

Utterly embarrassing. No other way to describe what I just spent 2 hours watching.

Seems like you're the only one with an optimistic outlook on the results of today's game Mod. I wonder why that is...

I don't know how anyone can still support Al Skinner at this point.

The team this year absolutely sucked, and Skinner did nothing to improve it. He said that he didn't bring in any freshmen because he "liked the chemistry of this group." What a bunch of crap. Skinner's a terrible recruiter. Guys like Craig Smith and Jared Dudley fell through the cracks of other programs and right into Skinner's lap.

Where are the New England and New York area recruits? Raji only came here because of his brother, Roche and Trapani both transferred here from OTHER NEW ENGLAND schools. Sanders is the only other regular player from that part of the country. How is Skinner not going after talent from the Northeast. HE'S FROM MOUNT VERNON, NY! HE PLAYED AT UMASS! HE'S COACHED AT MARIST AND RHODE ISLAND! HOW DOES HE NOT HAVE ANY RECRUITING CONNECTIONS IN THAT PART OF THE COUNTRY?!?!??

Last year, after the tourney loss to USC, I thought that we would be decnet this year and really good next year, since we'd only lose Rice and Roche. Now I'm not so sure. This team stinks offensively, and thanks to Skinner not bringing in any freshmen, how is it going to get better next year.

I'd rather they just fired Skinner, start from scratch, and have a couple of really lousy years than watch more of this garbage.

I read this blog pretty regularly, but rarely post anything. This basketball season, and this coach in particular, however, really get my blood boiling.

SKINNER NEEDS TO GO. He can't develop in bounds plays, can't consistently break presses, doesn't know how to use his timeouts, and the flex offense is a joke (the only good thing about it is that teams aren't used to defending it because no one uses it). But Al Skinner's biggest flaw is that he's a horrible recruiter, and can't even land the big time players in his own back yard

Bravesbill was right on this one... the moment that lineup stepped on the floor, the momentum shifted, and rather than calling a timeout after the first two empty possessions, he encouraged the quicksand to drown the team by waiting for a TV timeout. Skinner needs an assistant to get in his ear when he is wrong, but all the good ones are siphoning away talent to other New England schools.

And for the record, I never thought that I would long for the days of John Oates, but has any player in the country regressed as much as Josh Southern?

As much good as he has done, Skinner may have to do something next year with all those seniors (like, win the ACC or make the Sweet 16) to get extended... starting to tread into TOB waters here.

c'mon b-bill read my T-Y-p-i-n-g "and you are right too....that's the best part about it!"

I agree with you (well to a point, of coruse) I am not optimistic about the team or skinner or today's game.
