It's the Women's Basketball team, not the girl's team. C'mon ATL get with it.
And some good looking women at that!
Totally unrelated, but it's depressing to me that BC has to run a fire sale on hockey tickets for the final game of the regular season, a game that could determine who "wins" the Hockey East regular season, depending on tonight's game with UNH.
As usual, York has the team peaking as they enter post-season play, and BC has to beg for fans. You won't find a better collegiate sports event (at least not in New England) than a BC hockey game, particularly if the season championship is at stake. I can't think of a better way to spend $10.
Back in the 1980s, the hockey games were always sold out and always a blast. And the team was never close to the level the team is at now.
Maybe too many careerist-nerds at BC now? The cost of academic success!
Back in the 80's BC's student body was still predominantly from New England and had a much higher concentration of hockey fans, I'm sure. The demographic today is vastly different, certainly. I don't know what the school charges for tickets, but they might've been free "back in the day" (I'm class of '78). Then again, the average BC student today comes from a much more affluent family.
So you're saying it's not Al Skinner's fault.
I'm reluctant to not hold Skinner accountable for everything negative associated with Conte Forum. However, in this particular instance, I struggle to find a direct connection between the generally ugly performance of the hoop team and lack of support for the hockey team, which, as I've said before, is the opposite of the hoop team in every regard.
it's spring break. unfortunate scheduling.

the school demographic was not predominately new England in the 1980s. tons of people from NJ, NY, CT (the NY part!), Ill, PA, PR, MD, DC, MI, and elsewhere
I know CT is technically NE, but most of the people I knew back then were from Greenwich and Darien and such and no one would think of them as New Englanders!
Most of the true boston area people were "muttas" that did not live on campus and never went to any games.
by the way a "mutta" (mute-ah) is short for commuter. back in the early 1980s something like 20% of the class commuted to BC from nearby towns. Now, I've read, than less than 1/10 of 1% commute.
maybe the mute-ahs were at the hockey games after all??? and i just did not realize it,

lets keep things in perspective, some of you are comparing McHugh Forum to Conte ??? Conte is nearly twice the size, and no, all the games were not sell outs back then, but regardless BC Hockey has a very core and passionate following, something BC basketball has NEVER had.
