Dominating in Detroit

The concern entering the game against Miami was BC's defense and the ice surface. Neither were a factor as BC cruised to a 7-1 victory. The defense was most impressive as BC kept the puck out of its own end for long stretches. BC takes on Wisconsin Saturday night for the National Championship.

Strap on my blades, I'm ready. Go Eagles! Ice me up, I'm stoked. Go Eagles! Take it to the net--one more time! Go Eagles! Let's do this thing and bring that trophy home to the Hill! Go Eagles! (My Saturday plans include a BC National Championship--Are you with me?) Oh yeah...

I wish I knew a fan from Miami (OH).. they must be demoralized. We own them.

Note to Spaz and Donahue, read the following from Jerry York:

"We were very, very sharp tonight," York said. "We moved pucks really well and got excellent goaltending from Johnny Muse. We blocked a lot of shots, and we were very quick and creative with our shots.

"It's just good players making good plays. Postseason success is because we've won a lot of battles at the kitchen tables in recruiting. If you have a lot of good players, like we have at BC, you're going to win an awful lot of games. We feel very good about playing Wisconsin Saturday night."

Herald is reporting that Skinner has interviewed at Clemson. It really is TOB all over again. I'm a little surprised that Clemson would want to adopt the flex, since they have been an uptempo team under Purnell.

Morrina -- interesting item on Skinner, and good analogy to TOB.

also of note, Brad Stevens just signed a 12-year deal with Butler, so there really was never any possibility of him even talking to BC.

With Clemson and Wake (and others) on the hunt for a coach, I think BC was pretty fortunate to get Donahue. (knock on wood)

clemson may be willing to tolerate the flex in favor of a coach who took his team to the tourney 7 times in 10 years. i don't think they have had that kind of a success and guys like that don't fall off the wagon every day. just a thought.

Awesome performance by a wonderfully talented, recruited and coached team. I understand from attendees that the Ford Field location is a disaster -- not a good seat in the house due to the football-stadium style slope of the seating. By the time your line of sight is above the glass you're 75 yards from the ice. That's okay for novelty occasions like the Fenway Winter Classic, but not for a national championship. While they announced roughly 35K in attendance, eye witnesses reported huge sections of empty seats, even before BC's three goal eruption put the game out of reach. On top of that, a Wisconsin coach was interviewed on TV saying that they had to fight the ice conditions, which were "not up to our standards", the entire game.

How is it that Joe Louis Arena is good enough for Stanley Cup games but not for the NCAA Championship?

Any word on BC alumn meetups in Detroit for the Championship game? I feel like this blog has more connections than alumni boards!

Agreed, the football stadium is stupid. What's the point of having hte most important game of the year be in a situation where you're "hoping the conditions are okay". Why risk having something like that affect the outcome.

I was at the Fenway game but couldn't see a thing, so I can sympathize with fans in Detroit.

Also, if it's all about money, why put it in Detroit in the 1st place. It has the worst reputation so nobody wants to go there.

(no offense Michiganders)

Wow. 4th National Title game in 5 years? Jerry York is one of those coaches that only comes along once in a life-time. Not only a great sporting coach, but a great ambassador for the school and an embodiment of it's values. Couldn't be prouder of that program. Let's bring it back to the Heights!!

imagine if this was happening in football or basketball...4 title games in 5 years...what a big national story it would be. wish the espn and cnnsi's of the world would give it a little more attention.

...even though no one in the south or west cares.

Very good pickup. I'm already impressed with Donahue's recruiting.

HUGE WIN FOR THE EAGLES...well done to the team and Coach York for tightening up the defense and dominating the game. Miami and Wisonsin both have a signifant size advantage on BC, but York has shown the ability to gameplan around the opponents size and make them deal with the speed and grit of BC. Also, well done by Muse...we'll need the same focus from him on Saturday.

The hockey program is one of the few dominant programs in college sports. Congrats to the guys for another great season. Let's win one more and bring the hardware back to the Heights.

Compare the incredible class of York and his team to this:

"I don't think there is a team that we've seen that can stick with our team for three periods," said Wisconsin defenseman Brendan Smith. "I think we just wear and tear and we send three maybe four lines that can (match) their [BC’s] top line."

Let's hope this "diss" get's to York's bulletin board!

Would you like fries with those words, Brendan?

Eagles and York are unstoppable.
