A call to all big BC eaters

Many of the world's greatest athletes have worn the maroon and gold. BC has produced first round draft picks, NBA stars, great runners, Soccer strikers, MLB prospects, some of the best sailors in the world, etc. I could go on for days listing the great competitors who called the Heights "home." Yet here on the day where the sporting world turns to a hot dog eating contest, I am left to wonder "how come none of the great eaters are from BC?"

When I was at BC, I saw guys consume tons of food in minutes. I saw hundreds of disgusting (yet hilarious) acts related to food, booze and puking. We have a competitive food landmark in the Eagles Deli blocks from campus. Isn't there one Eagle out there who could eat 70 hot dogs in 10 minutes?

I am glad the best eaters are once again American. Now we just need someone to challenge Joey Chestnut and bring the Yellow Belt back to Chestnut Hill.

I can't recall exactly, but I'm pretty sure none of the challenge burgers at Eagles Deli were accomplished by BC students. There's at least 1 Tufts person in there. I believe I did the 1.5 pound burger and 1.5 pounds of fries and didn't eat anything for a day afterward, so someone else is going to have to step up to the plate.

it's sad to say, but Eagle's Deli is no longer as great as it used to be. They remodeled and completely neutered the place. It's clean and there is no longer a Mamula jersey. It is very disappointing. I can't bring myself to go there anymore.

Yeah, eagles deli was on Man Vs Food and then they decided to redesign it. Somehow, the food doesn't seem as good.

I used to out-eat the football players when I was a 155 pound BC rower. Now I weigh 182 pounds and have to be careful about my weight so my mass eating days are long gone. Plus, did you see how sick Joey Chestnut looked after polishing off over 50 dogs? That can't be good for his arteries.

Is the Eagle's Deli in Cleveland Circle? I don't remember that being around in the 80's but I could be wrong.

probably says more about the football team in the 80s than anything else...happy 4th holiday, esp. to the vets...

BC 63rd in the Director's Cup. Right about, on average, where they usually finish over the last decade. Next to last out of the ACC. I believe our Chinese friend was lamenting the fact that BC's Nat'l Championship sailing team earned us no points, saying, "It takes all kinds to make the world." Amen, bra'. Amen. Before that, "Butcher the donkey after it finished his job on the mill." It's all clear now.

The Director's Cup???? Who cares about that. Bunch of statistics lumped into a list. Means nothing, except maybe for guys like you who continually look for what is wrong with BC and what is perceived to be lacking. Carpe Diem!

i disagree, the Directors Cup is a metric that can be quite useful in demonstrating relative success across an entire athletic department.

Eagleboston, were you able to out eat the football players before or after weigh in? We used to be able to put away disgusting amounts of food when I was a lightweight.

You're a putz!!!

I said nothing of the sort, Mod.

It was an observation. Go away.
