Who has the best Oline? and other links

Why is everyone so excited about Florida State's offensive line? I don't think their talent is that much better than ours and they were just as inconsistent as BC last year. Hopefully our guys will use this sort of stuff for motivation. The anchor of the line -- Anthony Castonzo -- will have a unique fall as he prepares for the Rhodes interviews. I know this might seem silly to some but I think he should skip the interviews if it conflicts with the UVA game. Not that we can't win without him, but he is set to break the total starts and consecutive starts record at BC. That is a big deal in the football sense.

BC lost out on Ohio Lineman Chase Hounshell. BC target Darius Jennings seems set on visiting a lot of targets. Jack Tabb is still looking at BC but talking up other schools.

One of Montel's fans in Jacksonville asked SI why Harris doesn't get more publicity.

With the Saints in town to take on the Patriots, JoLonn Dunbar and Matt Tennant were able to stop by practice. Herzlich still could not practice.

Even among ESPN's rankings, we are in the "others" category.

Come on ATL, skip the Rhodes Scholarship interviews? Don't pull that card, not at BC. We'll be fine without him vs. UVA and, sorry, the all-time starts record at BC likely means nothing compared to a RHODES FREAKING SCHOLARSHIP.

I agree with Ryan and am shocked that ATL would suggest that a BC athlete throw away a chance at a Rhodes Scholarship for a "record" that would have zero impact on the player's future and only negative impact on BC's reputation. It would be a huge PR disaster for both.

I agree with the other commenters. Even if he makes the NFL, the average career is what, 2.5 years? A Rhodes scholarship helps throughout life.

Although, don't NFLers question Rolle's 'commitment' because he took the scholarship?

Can't the Rhodes interview b sceduled so costanzo can do the interview and the UVA game? Seems odd that he must pick one over the other but if he must, Go FOR RHODES!!!

Nice Pub for Harris.

After Myron Rolle coming late to his homecoming game for FSU, no the Rhodes interview time is solely up to the intervieweres.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks skipping the Rhodes interview for the UVA game would be a bad decision...especially for a record no one will remember in 5 years.

Atl, please go watch Billy Madison. After Billy gives his answer on the industrial revolution, you can take what the principal says and that's my response to any hint that skipping a Rhodes interview would be a good idea.

Just for some perspective here, BC has had 2 Rhodes Scholars in its history (both in 2004). So, it's probably an understatement to say that a Rhodes Scholarship is a bigger deal to the University (and to Costanzo) than a regular season win over UVA and consecutive games streak. Plus, I agree that ATL underestimates the bad PR that would inevitably result from Costanzo skipping the interview, or the good PR that would result from him getting the scholarship. We're a school that has done a great job in terms of balancing athletics and academics and I don't think we want to risk being held up as a poster child for why the term "scholar athlete" is often an oxymoron in modern college athletics.

BC always has multiple years where they graduate 100% of their athletes. I don't think that subdues their appetite for more. Just the opposite, it feeds their hunger, and confirms our marketing approach. BC craves academic achievements for its athletes, I guarantee you that Rhodes is a top priority for all involved!
