Alex Murphy: Future Dukie

As I tweeted earlier, Goodman and everyone else is reporting that Alex Murphy committed to Duke. That's not really a surprise. What is a bit disappointing is that Alex mentioned how tough it was to say no to Florida. No mention of BC anywhere in his interviews. I know Donahue's crew worked hard on this and it could have been a program changer. Now we have to go find someone else.

I wish Alex the best of lu...(just can't finish the sentence because of the Duke aspect).

Duke:CBB :: USC/Florida/Texas:CFB

Disapointing, but no shame in losing recruits to the top program in the country. I'm just glad Donahue is pursuing blue chip players aggresively- there is no reason why we can't be as aggressive on the recruiting trail as our old BE brethran or as annually competitive as a Villanova, Gonzaga, etc.

Donahue's character and enthusiasm are nice bellwethers for reasonable, sustained success, howver, we will need to break through with a national prospect or two if we want to make break the Sweet Sixteen glass ceiling.

Murphy will be just another good player at Duke. He would have been one of the greats at Boston College. It's a shame. I guess we have to hope that Donahue can close on Murphy's teammate and equally heralded prospect Kaleb Tarczewski. He seems to really like Kansas though....

Brighton: agreed

The only shame w/ Murphy would have been if BC didn't aggressively recruit him.

Anyone know if big brother Murphy is getting regular minutes at Florida yet? UF seems to be getting better as the season goes along, but if his minutes remain low then i'm holding out hope for a transfer.

Big-ish game tonight w/ Clemson. A win would give BC some needed bubble cushion heading into home Maryland and at UNC. Two games which frighten me immensely

I've been following Erik Murphy closely at Florida, too. He's getting around 10 minutes a game. At the start of the season he was getting between 15 and 20.

I just took a look re: Erik Murphy. Based on minutes alone i'd say there's potential for him being dissatisfied.

But, Florida's three bigs that are getting more minutes than Murphy are all seniors. So, i'd think it's unlikely he'll go anywhere. I'll commend his patience, but he could have been seeing 30 minutes a game and lighting it up in Donahue's system. Too bad Al's flex was in place when it mattered . . .
