BC wins Beanpot primer

The hockey team smoked UMass tonight 5-0. I called the win a "Beanpot primer" but that is not a very fair description. This was an important league game and gave BC two more points. Samuelsson set the tone with two goals and an assist. With the win, BC improved to 19-6-0.

A team gets 2 points for a win.

thanks fixed.

DoubleEagle, you're thinking of the NHL. College teams still get 3 points for the victory. Just like in soccer.

NorCal-It's 2 points in college hockey. Check the Hockey East standings. BC is 15-5-0 and has 30 points. http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/index.php

It's 2 points for a win.

That was the most complete game theyve played in a long time.

BC men's hoops leading VT 27-24 at the half. Trapani leads BC with 9; Jackson is scoreless.

My bad. I misread those standings. You are totally correct BCDE. All these point systems confuse the hell out of me.

Yes, go eagles, a good win to stop the slide!

If you want to be even more confused, NorCal, the CCHA conference gives 3 points for a win, 2 points for a shootout (and maybe overtime?) win, and 1 point for a shootout loss in its conference standings (for RPI and national purposes the shootouts count as ties). Hockey East has 2 for winning and 1 for ties. No points for OT losses and no shootouts like in the NHL.

pitiful representation by the students today...each student section was 1/3 full at best. 1 pm on a saturday against a good team and we can't even get butts in the seats. pathetic and embarrassing.

the win today was in spite of another letdown performance on the offensive and by reggie. the defensive performance by most of the rest though was much more respectable.

Huge win.

Radio guys seemed to indicate that Reggie played a fairly complete game, even with the scoreless first half. Was that true or were they full of it? Reggie also needs to bury late free throws. Blowing the one-and-one could've been brutal

I don't think Reggie scored until like 11 minutes left in the second half (or something close to that). Even though he shot poorly and scored only 10 points, it seemed like every basket he hit was huge (like right after a V-tech score on the other end).

And I also wish more students showed up to the game. It is unfortunate that it works like this, but Conte was packed for the UNC game, and with BC getting destroyed in that game, many students decided not to come back again today.

Hockey games have been packed this year.

Was at the UMass game- even with some whether/traffic delay, strong crowd (general public + students alike) and a resounding W- the game was never in doubt.

This team is incredibly talented- the season finale v. UNH will likely be for the HE crown.
