Beanpot Champs again!

Forget the BU Invitational. BC is once again the Champion of Boston. Credit to Northeastern for giving us all we could handle. The Huskies kept fighting back from our early leads and went ahead in the 3rd. We answered, took the lead and then allowed them to tie and force OT. Jimmy Hayes sealed the deal with his game-winning goal six minutes into OT.

This is BC's 16th Beanpot and our third in four years. In the past winning the Beanpot has been a springboard to big things ahead. Let's hope it brings us luck again this year. Next step: Hockey East Champions!

I really don't watch much hockey, but I did watch last night's OT. BC dominated. Looked like a mismatch. Puck in BC's control whole OT...shot after shot after shot and one finally went in...

Gotta watch more hockey. Really exciting game

Games like these two Beanpot games are great preparation for Hockey East and NCAA tournaments.

Despite a load of penalties, the Beanpot final was a spectacular game with remarkable plays from both sides. It's hard to believe that Northeastern has a losing record when they can play like that. Yes, BC dominated in the six minutes of OT, and throughout the first period, but there were long stretches during which they were out-played by the Huskies. NE skates 16 freshmen and sophomores; they are going to be really fun to watch for the next few years.

... but not as much fun as the Eagles, of course!

NU started the season horribly, but they've been doing well since the new year - I want to say 7-2-2 in 2011 going into last night. They are better than their overall record would indicate and are right in the mix for home ice in the Hockey East playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if we see them again at the Garden next month.

Way to go Eagles! Once again, with our other teams up and down in performances, the hockey team does its part! Here's hoping to more silverware this season
