Soaring Seniors

Not only did BC do what it had to do today in beating Wake Forest, but it did so in a style that has me thinking big. If they play with the same intensity and continue the recent improved defense, we can make a run this week and next. Here are my thoughts. Leave yours below.

Likes
-- Playing man defense for 40 minutes. Wake is terrible, but they do have some pieces and some size. Yet we were able to play them in man defense nearly the entire game. Trapani didn't have trouble with their bigs. We rebounded well and Wake didn't drive or post up on Cahill.
-- Reggie distributing. Jackson did a good job of getting others involved and making smart passes. It is just another aspect of his improving game.
-- Corey Raji's big day. He was great in transition. He was great in defense. He made some big shots. Once again, if he and a few others peak at the right time, good things can happen.

Dislikes

-- Losing men on defense early in the game. We gave Wake some wide open looks early and they converted. Fortunately we clamped down and made some stops.

Let's hope this loss crushed Wake and we are supremely focused since we get to do this all again next week in the opening round of the ACC Tournament.

Relatively easy path to the semis!

Who's ready to make some noise??

How was the crowd there? It is reported a sell out but I am curious how full it actually was with the students on spring break.

student section was more full with the students away than it is when they are in session. bigger crowd than most of the season i would say.

They student section was pretty full, lots of people at the game. Many there on time to see the seniors walk out on the court. BC did a Groupon promotion for this game, and I know there were around 2,000 of those sold. Smart partnership with a trendy marketing angle.

As for the game. I think the Captain did a great job of doing what was needed to win, without tipping his hand too much for the next game against Wake. Yes Wake has had a bad season, but as ATL mentioned, they have size that we dont. The team didnt take them lightly and cruised to an easy win where everyone got involved and in the game.

As for our next game, I have a feeling its going to be a lot more of Reggie (he only played about 20 minutes in this one). If we get contributions from Reggie, Joe, and Corey. And then have a couple of other players chip in (Southern, Paris, Elmore, Cahill, Moton), we are a tough team to beat!

Pretty good crowd. Some empty seats and not a TON of energy, but much better than I expected for a Spring Break Sunday.

BJ Raji was in the house and got a nice ovation. Poor guy was mobbed outside Conte. God knows how long it took him to get out of there.

Sat next to the Raji family during the game. It was funny seeing then go crazy for Corey then laugh while BJ was getting mobbed for autographs. Great people, will miss having Rajis at BC.

I couldn't agree more with ATL on the "big things" comment. I've watched most of the games this season and anyone who knows me, knows that I am usually negative with our program's chances. With this team, when they turn it on and are running on all cylinders, it has me thinking that we can knock off any team in the country. We are really starting to heat up and the last few games we have looked very good. If we can have reggie playing at ACC POY caliber (which he has the last few games), biko knocking down 4-5 behind the arc, corey playing like a beast on the boards, trapani hitting his shots, and southern able to get 6-8 pts a game...I think we are a very legitimate threat. Now there are a lot of "ifs" in that statement and I would be the first to call that out, only I've seen what I just described from this team MULTIPLE times this season. 3-4 games I can think of where everyone was on the same page and I was left feeling that if we played UNC or Duke that way, we could have definitely taken them down.

I'm not saying its going to happen. Hell, it is the BC way to get our hopes up with ability only to dash it when we are most vulnerable. What I am saying is that this team has the ability to do some big things in the next few weeks. Let's go Eagles!

Interestingly enough, despite BC's solid bubble status, it did manage to earn 3 votes in the coaches' poll today.

Reggie first team all ACC. Trapani 3rd team

Nothing would make me happier than BC making a deep run in the ACC tourney, but let's not get too excited about the WF result. Wake has 2 wins (High Point, UVA) since the new year and only one loss (MIA) by less than double digits. They are terrible...

Even if we beat them by 30 on Thursday, that's no guarantee we won't get smacked by Clemson.

That being said, if they keep the pace up and shoot well, anything is possible.

Anyone see that BJ Raji was wearing a Yanks hat?

Great player, awesome talent, poor choice of hat.
