Henning to UNC? and other links

EDSBS had a little fun with UNC and offered a few suggestions on who they should hire. One of their top choices was Dan Henning. Looking back at Henning, it was amazing that he was ever hired by BC. At the time, the move was panned by most BC fans. Now it would be an internet uproar. Henning couldn't manage kids or his offense. He did not have any roots in Boston nor BC. Yet we hired him. Thankfully it only lasted three years.

Thomas Claiborne signed with Tampa. I believe Claiborne's 2010 season was an aberration but I will be surprised if he stays on with the Bucs. I think he's still too short to be an NFL lineman.

We may get ignored when it comes to traditional licensing products, but you can get a BC boat fender. Does this mean BC fans own a lot boats? Maybe they are buying the boats with their BC credit cards.

Matty Ice was on the Dan Patrick Show this morning. You can go to the DP website to listen to the audio.

Henning.....that was a nightmare era for BC. If I remember correctly, Coughlin suggested that the AD hire Henning as his replacement. For you youngsters, Henning was the worst thing to happen to BC football and we are lucky we got things turned around so quickly. He did have a nice home game against Notre Dame where Mamula went ballistic and had about 25 sacks, but that was it for Henning.

Best thing about Henning was the first play he called - a daring Hasselback touchdown pass against Michigan. It went all downhill from there. Don't think Henning was/is a bad football mind, just clearly not a college/BC suitable guy.

It was Hartsell who through that pass. Hasselbeck was a few years later.

Right about how bad he was but Henning had lots of Boston based family, I went to high school with one of his nephews. Same last name, but I didn't put two and two together until I was bitching about how terrrible Henning was in history class and this kid starts getting really defensive. Someone informed me after I had pissed the guy off
