I don't think we should expect miracles from Brown. He has nothing t work with in terms of talent. Nothing. Spaz destroyed that defense.
Other than looking slow and small on defense, I think that unit can really flourish against other FCS teams.

I didn't think the defense could be worse than last year...I stand corrected. This performance should pour cold water on all those Bowl dreams we have this year.
Finally, a stop by this defense.
I know Daz wants to run the ball, but it appears we have had very good success with the pass. He might want to turn Rettig loose.

Student section full half at best everywhere else
I was trying to caution people all off season about hopes for this team. This is a turn-around project. While there is a path to 6 wins, 4 is most likely with this team. Daz does not even get his first class on campus until next fall and they will only be freshmen. It may be year 3 before we get to a bowl again. Be patient, folks and look for small positives as this year progresses.
We're not going to rock out the AdvoCare V100 bowl with blitz pick-ups like that. Where will those 650 fans go in mid-December if not Detroit?

You're right, ATL, Rettig is only one who showed up to play. If you can't run the ball against 'Nova, you cannot run it against anyone.

Well, we had a chance to hire a real Coach, and instead we went to the Dollar Store and bought Temple's coach. Good lesson for all BC's future business people, don't cheap out on the initial buy.

Wow, Nova should have kicked the field goal. They gave us a break.
Ok, so here's some analysis that is not snide or snarky. The coaching should not matter that much in this game. We "should" be overwhelming Villanova with size and speed. However, since that is not happening, either 1 of 2 things is going on, either we do not have the size and speed anymore or our players quite literally do not care and are not trying. It all comes back to the man at the top. Either he did not recruit well or he cannot motivate. But, wasn't this guy supposed to be a highly animated, good recruiter? It's like I am taking crazy pills.

Nova had to go for the jugular there. Even though they didn't get it, they will still have great field possession when BC inevitably goes 3 and out once again.

Some of you clearly are idiots when you discuss college football. Someone commented about Daz's recruiting. Those players are not on campus yet, you moron. These are Spaz's players. Further, you don't take a 2-10 team and make them great in 1 game. They don't know how to win. Teaching that and instilling that in a team accustomed to losing takes time.
I don't understand the expectations some of you have for this team. This is a 3-year turn-around process. The next 2 years will be rough. Deal with it!

If you think BC should be losing to Nova at half, you're kidding yourself BC. Yes, most people had ridiculously high expectations for BC which is absurd. However, BC should never be down to Nova at the half no matter whose players are on the field. This is unacceptable and why I'm pissed off, even when I had low expectations coming into the season.
That was a terrible half but we can and should regroup.

Bravesbill, I agree that BC should never lose to 'Nova. However, the reality is BC was one of the worst teams in FBS last year and 'Nova was one of the best in FCS. There is not that big of a gap between these teams. This is Spaz's fault, not Addazio and we have to give him time to turn this around. His recruiting class is excellent, but they will not be on campus until next fall. Let him turn this thing around.
I'd agree with you there EB about Daz's players/recruiting. However, like I said, with the players BC has now, it should never have been losing. Terrible playcalling on both sides of the ball have made this close. Case in point: this last damn pass on 3rd down.

Vardaro turned around and blocked at the knees. The defender tried to jump over him. He didn't go high at all. Bench him for the rest of the game. He already had a dumb penalty in the first half.

My point BBill, was that the flags have been stowed all game, during a lot of blatant penalties, but now that we have a chance to put this game in hand, the flags are a flying. You're right, it was callable, but given their penchant for No-Calling this game, I am left wondering "What changed their minds now?"
A better question is "Who cares?"they are the same dumb, tobacco-road refs we've always had. There's a reason they have not been called up.

One striking difference from last year. Clearly, the BC coaching staff made some halftime adjustments and BC has played much better in the 2nd half.
The linebackers have been the weak link today.
