VT gametime and other links

Our game against Virginia Tech will be a noon kickoff with a national TV audience. I think this is again a good confidence boost in our TV appeal. ESPN/ABC have not determined which actual network will carry the game yet. That will be decided after the North Carolina game.

In other encouraging TV news, our game against UNC is getting pretty good pick up on regional sports networks. The Tar Heels are 1-5 and still a regional team in football, so I don't think they can take credit for the game being shown out West or throughout the Midwest.

Surprisingly North Carolina remains a 7-point favorite in our game. I know we have a lot to prove, but I am surprised there remains that much confidence in a one-win team.

ESPN has us bowling but keeps us down in the Power Rankings.

Women's Hockey handled Dartmouth.

Women's Soccer tied Miami.

As BC fans we feel better about the team but I'd think most non-biased folks would see that we haven't won a road game since 2011 and think that +7/8 makes sense.

I hate the noon kickoff for home games. It kills tailgating. Too late for breakfast, too early for lunch until those last few minutes.

Clearly, a Founders Breakfast Stout is the way to settle your dilemma, Erik. It's a hearty brunch in a bottle.

Of course, there is the alternate of actually getting into the stadium before the game starts. Tough, I know, but.....

Why can't you do both?

Isn't something called "brunch" a thing?

I love the noon start. Then you can head home to catch the 3:30 eastern games and then go out for a nice dinner in Beantown. I'm flying out for the game and now that Spaz is gone, I'm hoping to start a new streak of watching winning games in person (I saw something like 10 in a row when TOB and Jags were coaches, including a bowl victory in Charlotte and a win in South Bend).

I can't wait to get my annual Shipyard Pumpkin beer, sample some clam chowder and get a nice lunch in the North End, followed by the world's best cappuccino at Cafe Vittoria.

When I was a student at BC, all of the games were 12:00 noon or 1:00pm.

I was quite interested in tailgating with my date and seeing my classmates - but getting to the game on-time was always important to me as well.

We would have a beer or two before the game, sneak a few in, if possible and enjoy the game.

Afterwards, we would linger for awhile at the tailgate, and then go out for Chinese food or something. Later, we would head downtown for the Victory Dance at the Parker House Roof or the Bradford Hotel.

In my 20's to 40's, I'd set up the grill on Shea like everyone else - but I would still get to the game on time.

What kills tailgating is the donation factor - not the time. People think they need to tailgate for 3 hours prior to the game and 2 hours afterwards (if allowed) to justify the expense.

I had better things to do as a student than tailgate for 5 hours - that's BS. Enjoy some tailgating, enjoy the game and enjoy the city, if you want to "party".

By the way - if you don't want to have a full tailgate with open grills, loud music and TV's etc. - I think (small) gatherings on the Brighton Campus would go un-noticed. Sandwiches, beer and wine, etc.

That's what we should push for - and the price is right. Tents are a good idea, but your own "picnic" should be allowed.

Disagree, the hours are a huge issue.

Because three hours doesn't mean three hours. It means that's the first second you're allowed on campus while lined up on Comm Ave.

I really don't see why BC doesn't push for longer hours.

Claver - I agree with you that BC needs to push for more hours, or at least allow the "set-up" cars to enter earlier. I don't know - just thinking out loud.

While it's not that big a deal to me (I have Upper Brighton), I know that it is for many people.

BB has made incremental positive changes, and hopefully that trend will continue.

I wish I could "like" Mod10aeagle's post. A+

Agreed. The only thing better than Founders Breakfast Stout is Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout. However, as much as I love my friends, if I could get my hands on some KBS I wouldn't be sharing it at a tailgate!

BarraCuda, I don't think you'd be getting into the game on time either (or remembering much of it)!
