Losing continues as UVA stomps BC

For those who didn't watch, this was as lopsided a 10-point loss as you'll find. BC was down by double digits throughout and down by close to 20 for long stretches. If not for a too little, too late scoring run late, this loss would have been worse.

Virginia is good and would have made most teams look bad, but there was many frustrating moments tonight. For yet another game Hanlan was a non-factor for 30 minutes. People might blame him. I'm blaming coaching. This guy is a talent and can drive on anyone in the conference. He proved it late. Why do we waste our time and his talent with long, clock killing possessions around the perimeter? I know the offense isn't the real problem, but if we weren't so married to that offensive system, we might be able to do some different things defensively. But that is something a different coach can try.

If you're looking for silver linings, you can be glad that LaPhonso Ellis is not our AD. He used long chunks of the broadcast to talk about the Dennis Clifford injury and how that impacted BC this year. (No mention of Clifford's injury history.) Bob Wischusen -- who knows better -- didn't let it slide.

Anderson did Anderson things and played well and got back in after getting a busted lip. I don't think many BC players are going to get conference honors in March, but he deserves some All ACC votes. He's been the most consistent player on the team.

The fun continues with Duke on Saturday.

the "drive and kick" offense donahue runs is such a joke. this team is a disaster, and i won't waste another second of my time watching them until Donahue is fired. make the move, Bates.

I am so sick of this. Donahue's a nice guy, but in so far over his head it's sad.

I still don't understand the regression and what happened to this team. Someday we'll learn a little more. I really just wish Donahue would cut a deal with HR, resign tomorrow or the next day and quietly leave Boston College. This is like a bad marriage where neither party can afford to move out of the house.

I've never heard of a team getting so bad over the course of a summer. Same players, same coaches, same conference...truly inexplicable.

Can someone explain why Donohue is not playing Will Magarity more? Donohue himself hyped Magarity as a great, under-recruited player. Magarity has shown promise.

Instead of forcing Anderson to play the 5, having an athletic 6-11 guy in there instead of 3 or 4 guards would likely help what has been one of the worst defensive rebounding basketball teams I've ever seen.

At this point why does Donahue do anything? I'm almost positive he sits by himself before a game and makes all game decisions with a flip of a coin.

I am with Miz... i cant waste any more time on this team until a change is made... it's just frustrating to watch

Problem is mid season changes usually dont happen (no viable long term candidates yet) and we dont have an assistant on the staff that could possibly do anything with an interim tag... just a disaster

Ok, Donahue has had a few rough outings. But there were good parts too. The team is very streaky, and has just had bad luck. It happens.

Donahue has shown (in season 1) that he can produce a winner.

He needs another 2 seasons.

Keep in mind, he suposedly has a 7year contract (which is why he came to BC). BC promised him time to build. Look at his Cornell years. Bad early years led a majorly good team. BC knew it would be a slow build with Donahue. Let's honor that committment and not be so focused on immediate gratification.

Stop the Firing talk too. You'll be singing his praises in 12 months.

He underachieved with Skinner players in year one, and has been a disaster since. The program was coming off of its best ten year stretch in history and has been driven into a ditch. There's no way Donahue is coaching for BC in three months, let alone 12.

Disagree on Anderson... I dont like being critical of BC athletes, but this team is different... At some point if the coaching is the problem, players need to tune him out...

Back to Anderson, he is the EMBODIMENT of this team. He is a player that came in to the program with clear deficiencies, but a lot of nice pieces to his game. However, in his time here, he has not matured physically (added muscle to compete), he has not developed a go-to move down low (its all improv throw it up hope it goes in style), as a result he can not be counted on to get a bucket, he turns the ball over, and most of all, HE DOESNT PLAY DEFENSE....

Anderson will consistently fill the stat sheet, but without W's its hollow. Quite frankly, someone has to score, its not quite middle school basketball... Anderson will be that guy, but being the best player on a 5 win team ultimately doesnt mean that much
