Always be closing

I know it is early but this is a huge week for Jim Christian. First he hosted Jared Terrell Monday. Terrell is the shooting guard who committed to OK State and now wants to stay closer to home. He's elite and he's local. He also sort of fell into our lap when he decided to back out of his Oklahoma State commitment. If we get Terrell, it provides a real shot in the arm. The team will get a player who can replace some of Rahon's offense and Christian will get a player he can build future recruiting classes around.

But the sales push for the 2014 recruiting class doesn't end with Terrell. California big man Idrissa Diallo will be on campus this week too. He might not be as important locally as Terrell, but he would still be a huge addition to a team desperate for size.

Christian's reputation prior to BC was that he was a hoops lifer and a gym rat. He wasn't considered a silver-tongued recruiter. But if he gets these two guys, especially given the timing and circumstances, then we might be in for a big surprise on his future recruiting.

In Bates We Trust.

Sure, delayed trust. But it's building.

Well, Donahue was great at blowing smoke about great recruits, so I'll wait till they're on campus.

Regardless, this certainly would be better than Gabe Moton and Danny Rubin.

again the importance of the assistants is being downplayed. Terrell is on campus in large part due to his relationship with Preston Murphy, the former URI assistant who is now on the staff. in fact, Terrell will choose between BC and URI - this is why you need a staff with good recruiters who have contacts and can get guys on campus, something Donahue did not understand and did not have on his staff. a welcome change, and credit is due to Christian (and presumably Bates) for getting Spinelli and Murphy to join up with him.

Terrell is a top 100 player in this class - i think he will easily replace what Rahon gave us (9 pts 3 ast per game) and more.

BC would have arguably the best scoring backcourt in the ACC with Hanlan and Terrell, something incomprehensible 10 days ago.

in addition to Diallo, BC is going after a 5th year forward from Florida Gulf Coast. would be a very exciting few days if we get Terrell and one of the bigs.

The difference is other programs view these recruits as great as well.

Opposed to the MAC level programs who thought the same of Donahue's recruits.

Great news, I can't believe I just wrote that about BC hoops, how nice. Criticle to get a big though. I can see the headlines already' "Christian resurrects BC basketball"!

i saw someone mention that Hanlan and Terrell both played at New Hampton School. Hanlan was '12 and Terrell is '14.

It looks like they played together 2011-2012.

Lets hope they are reunited.

Twitter buzz is that URI has jumped over BC for Terrell. I hope that's just URI homeys blowing smoke. Should know by end of week.
