Links: Duke prep, Addazio criticism, Bowl ratings

The real part of the basketball season starts on Saturday against Duke. Here is a quick overview of the game and Blue Devils.

Addazio made the dubious list of worst coaching in 2015. The writers certainly noted how hard it to go winless in conference with the best defense in the nation.

Finally, the ratings for the New Year's Eve Playoff games were way down. This won't change things overnight, but is still a good thing for BC. BC will always be an outsider in the bowl format (even with the Playoff element). It is best for us to watch this unravel and transform into a true eight-team, home-game, earned playoff.

Clemson's win helps us too. Respect for Big 12 should be down, thus making them more likely to add a title game. All power 5 having championship game would add momentum for 8, w/ all p5 champs earning auto bid, and then add 3 at large.

Interesting comment to the Addazio story from some guy from St. Louis:
"BC scored 76 against Howard to inflate their stats. They scored 85 in the ACC in their 8 games. Addazio had a five year contract. In year three, he was then given a three year extension at 2.6 mill per year. This means that BC is "on the hook" for 5 more years for 13 million. The AD wants the Michigan job. It appears that his Michigan background will land him the job and has already hired the BC defensive coordinator for Michigan. When Michigan hired Harbaugh, Addazio was the second choice. Can there be any doubt that there are some strange things going on?"

The Fiesta Bowl between OSU and ND had the most NFL talent on the field of all the bowl matchups according to ESPN. How is that possible? Both teams are from the Midwest. The SEC shills have always claimed that the best players were in Dixie. This couldn't be true. 2. The Pinstripe Bowl was about one quarter full with Duke and Indiana. It was sold out last year with BC and PSU. BC can be a good bowl matchup. 3. Watson at Clemson is the best pro prospect in college. He can do everything Russell Wilson can and more. He is vastly superior to Crablegs the number one pick last year. At the Rose Bowl an ESPN announcer was promoting McCaffery and Fournette as the leading Heismen contenders. Watson is the lead contender.

Your bias against the left coast obviously skews your view on McCaffrey. He is by far the best player in college football.

About that SEC West...

Is JBQ in St. Louis? I always thought he was from SC.

I would take Watson because of position but McCaffrey is fun to watch. But he's in the Pac 12. I'm not sure they hand out schollies on defense out there. And Fournette is in my mind better than either. My two cents.

Looking forward to Ned's bowl season conference recap. The OSU-ND tidbit seems to be desperate. I expect more, though the effort is strong when you have to plumb the depths of midwest talent to try to make a point. I think I know who he'll root for in the title game, though. A secret-me, too.

Ha.
