Although he only recently received an offer from BC and transferred to Florida in order to gain more national attention, Austin Burton will be playing college football close to home. The former Newton South QB verballed to Addazio Thursday. He's the second QB to commit in this recruiting class. I am excited for him -- all reports are that he is a good kid -- I just hope this sticks. My fear is that if he has a great season in Florida, big programs will come calling.
One of the guys he might be throwing to at BC is new commit Ohio WR Caleb Stoneburner. He's a big kid and from a good program in Dublin, OH, but most of his offers are MAC type. Perhaps being a tweener between Tight End and Wide Receiver scared Power 5s off. BC has done well with big WRs under Addazio. As long as the kid can block, we should be okay.

Burton was offered by UCLA about 90 minutes after committing to BC
And imho, a different year, Stoneburner gets/accepts a tOSU offer (because of talent and name/brother who played there). OSU's '17 class will be very small so most likely no room, but he did run a sub 4.5 at 6'4/205 at tOSU camp which was where BC saw him.
BC is currently ranked #49 national in recruiting. Weak. Bad season last year to blame for the excuse seeking crowd?
Hardly, Rutgers - terrible last year - has #20 class. Lots of big NJ OL too. Ru is kicking ass while BC is scraping for MAC players. BC ranking about same as Central Michigan
Maryland is #28
Northwestern is #17
Duke, Iowa, Iowa State, Memphis etc all significantly out recruiting BC
Of course BC was last In recruiting in ACC last year.
So ATL maybe skip the Daz recruiting cheerleading - Daz ain't doing BC proud
I'm not buying his Burton commitment. If he has a good year and the SEC comes calling then see you later...unless he really misses the New England winters and wants to come back home and play Wagner in front of an empty stadium
Daz needs to get the boot and replaced with the Donald Trump of the college coaching and recruiting world. Someone who can kick -ass and take names, as we used to say in the army.
Daz might be the trump of college football- energy, confidence and a questionable track record of success and a questionable plan with not a ton of substance. That said- I'm all for making BC great again and agree he's probably not the right guy #MBCGA
I won't go political, fake, even though I have a perfect come back to your Trump bashing. Happy Independence Day!
Mod, after seeing BC being mired in the bottom half of recruiting the last few years (and in the bottom 5 in power conferences), it's actually nice seeing BC in the Top 50 for a change (when people are semi-satisfied with this mediocre performance, you know the coaching staff has dismally failed recently).
Same to you, and for what it's worth I'm no fan of Hillary either. Go BC!
Yep. Go BC and may they emerge from the sports dark ages.
The first step in solving a problem is to define it. The problem is not Daz. With a five year contract, he would be gone. The problem is higher up the food chain. He was given a three year extension. That is where the problem lies and football is not the only place that issues are surfacing. The issue is with the broad vision of BB. In March of 2015, I visited the campus. It is obvious that BB has mesmerized the entire department. It appears that he is a charmer and has the charisma to do his Tom Sawyer impression and have others "paint the fence".
BB. Good point. Top 50 is better than next 50. So that is "better." But yeesch not the "better" we need. Oddly, sad sack Ru can serve as an inspiration to BC. Now that's pathetic.
Where are the future mean ass hungry hogs like Snee, Trueblood, Colombo, Hovan, Kendall, Smerlas, Stone, the Widell brothers, Woody, Nalen, Koppen, Scarminach, etc.?
Can't build a good house without a great foundation.
How in the holy hell can Rutgers out recruit us? What the Frick is that idiot Daz doing g to this program?
As an alum privy to virtually all that transpires sports-and-otherwise at BC told me a couple weeks back, Daz talks a great game, but that's about where it ends.
After this season, I expect an alumni uprising . Enough is enough.
Good luck satisfying yourself on rankings.
Tell me. Who finished 21st in the country in the polls last yr. 15th? 12th?
