Bowman needs to be a building block

Ky Bowman made the ACC's all freshmen team. That's a big deal and a nice honor. Congrats to him. But if BC is ever going to get back to competing, we need to put a player on the All Freshmen team every year.

When things are going well at BC, there is a consistent influx of new basketball talent. Skinner at one point had four consecutive years of players landing on the Big East/ACC All Freshmen team. It was only when he failed to follow Tyrece Rice with another impact recruit that things started to fall apart. He would still get other players on -- like Reggie Jackson -- but that slight lull opened the door for Gene to make a change. Donahue and Christian have both recruited All ACC Freshmen. Just not enough.

Bowman's momentum faded a bit the past few games, but he can still be a leader of a good team. But I don't know if Christian will find enough talent to keep his job.

GDF was the worst AD in BC history if not the history of all college sports. Gladchuk was BC's best. Gladchuk hired Coughlin, and TOB in football. York in hockey. Skinner in b-ball. BC's best coaches and the one's with the best records were hired were Gladchuk's selections.BC was fifth in the nation in combined football ans b-ball efforts under his choices. Today they aren't in the top 100. GDF through his racist friends at the Globe spread the fake story that Skinner was LAZY. Racist stereotype by Ryan and GDF yet not condemned by this blog. 2. Bring back Gladchuk as AD. Hire TOB and Skinner as coaches. How about some recompense for past crimes?

There are certainly things to criticize GDF on, but to say he was the worst AD ever is ridiculous.

on the AD and NCAAM hnt consider the case of Florida Gulf Coast University. 3 things to know.

1. They are named the Eagles. karma. krma . karma

2. FGCU AD is Ken Kavanaugh. He is doing a bang up job and is a BC grad. He had been honored as AD of the year in different NCAA divisions many times. http://www.fgcuathletics.com/staff.aspx?staff=308

3. Ken picked an excellent basketball coach: Joe Dooley. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Dooley_%28basketball%29). Dooley should be on the radar to replace JC. He has taken lowly FGCU to the post season in each of his 4 years, including to NCAA this year and last year.

Gdf was not racist. But i believe the highrr ups were. This whole Skinner sucks started quickly after Williams, McClain, and the kid that jumped out the window (cant think of his name). There has never been a question in my mind that Lahey and Mahoney wanted things whitened up
Suddenly white coach white players. How many true black players were on Donahue teams
How could Danny Mannimg not even get a sniff at this job.

mod34b said...

cantakeit - what is a "true black player"?

Geezer eagle said...

So criticism of a black coach by white officials automatically falls into the category of racist? Got to love the convoluted thought process of a liberal.

canttakeit said...

I guess you could say the type of athlete not recruited by Donahue. I dont think i need to be specific just look at the roster. You are a bright man

Actually staunch conservative have never voted for a democrat. It really is obvious to someone with an open mind about the bc administration. You should see the difference in admission between hockey and bball. Nobody has ever gotten rejected as a hockey application
Not under any coach. There have been some beauties

mod34b said...

canttakeit. so you can't explain your ridiculous remark.

and any evidence for this nonsense: "There has never been a question in my mind that Lahey and Mahoney wanted things whitened up" "my mind" might be an important qualifier for your statement (e.g no one else's mind).

really stupid muck.

A compliment coming from you. The make up of the team speaks to the facts. And while I was not a JOB fan, certainly an allegation that he made on his way out the door.

Canttakeit, I'm surprised you haven't blamed the Russians for ruining BC sports. What rubbish. Don't make such outlandish allegations if you can't back them up with evidence. Are you a troll with a new name?

Hhaha. Someone always bring up racism.

The admissions director John Mahoney sais Elton Tylers mother was sniffling a lot during the meeting he had with her, insinuating she was on cocaine.

Mod,
That is interesting information. Chris Sale went to Gulf Coast if I recall. Red Sox/Fenway Sports Group connection.

Did Ken Cavanaugh play hockey at BC?

I thought the coach that put that program together took off for USC.

mod34b said...

knuckle, i did not know that USC current coach came from FGCU Andy Enfield. Ken Kavanaugh hired him too. Ken has a good eye for talent and makes only about $250,000. A $1,000,000 from his alma mater should do the job. I don't think he played hockey - he is too smart to have been a hockey puck

Kavanaugh sounds like a good candidate, and probably somewhat ahead of McLaughlin after hiring two winning hoops coaches. The question mark about both is the lack of football experience, although Kavanaugh's resume shows a little time at Bowling Green in an assistant role (and of course, there's your MAC connection!).

Dooley's name actually surfaced during the last hoops coaching search. I remember thinking that the search was really coming up empty when a guy with one year experience (taking over Enfield's program, no less) was in play, but of course that was before things got even more disappointing as we ended up hiring Christian. I see Dooley was known as a top recruiter at Kansas and that he was a head coach in the mid-90's at East Carolina, which is a tough place to win in basketball.

Fun to speculate, and unfortunately it's far more fun than watching the teams at this point.

Oh, Dooley. I remember him. He is shady. I thought Enfield was shady also. That USC job is dirty. Remember that heavy bald coach from Marquette who brought Utah to the finals took the job and then resigned. Remember OJ Mayo walked into the USC coaches office and told them he would go there is if they gave him x, y and z(according to Sports Illustrated). I trust Mulvoy.

Point being Kenny boy is off my list based on his prior hiring. Iffy people.

Maybe he gets to BC and is able to hire someone good above board. But I look at GT, with their tradition and recruiting base, and they were basically forced to hire a scumbag to get back to where they should be. We might have to do the same thing.

Maybe we can lure Calhoun out of retirement.

Knucklehead. Bogus premise. Pointless argument. Character attacks. Salty language. Absurd suggestion. Oy!

knucklehead said...

You are a stiff.

mod34b said...

thanks Bitch

knucklehead said...

Passive aggressive stiff at that.

downtown_resident said...

It is college basketball, so anything is possible, but I don't remember any discussions about Dooley or Enfield being shady characters. Knucklehead, to what are you referring?
