Addazio gets verbal from Jersey QB

One of the reasons Addazio added Defensive Back's coach Anthony Campanile was to boost BC's recruiting efforts in New Jersey. It is starting to pay off, as one of New Jersey's top QB recruits John Langan verballed to BC over the weekend. The Bergen Catholic recruit carries offers from Syracuse, Rutgers and Temple. A few traditional powers are interested in him as an "athlete" and potential LB.

BC should have a pretty good sense of Langan as a player and a person, because his high school coach is Anthony Campanile's brother Nunzio.

Welcome Langan and hopefully he helps lead a big Garden State push for this recruiting class.

We used to do very well in NJ. Let's hope this is a sign of things to come.

Is he a traditional Matt Ryan pocket passer? Let's get back to the successful BC qbs of the past.

"Nunzio Campanile" - gee I wonder if he's Italian?

Anthony and Ninzio Campanile were both my old gym teachers at Don Bosco Prep lol. Both are young and passionate, and know the Jersey football landscape very well. Getting Anthony onboard was one of the Dazzlers few smart decisions.

"Georgia Eagle" asks the right question. The track record on the Dazzler from Temple and beyond is run, run, run and use the defense to keep the game close. It will take a change in coaches to bring that about. Wade is 5 ft 11 or so and mirrors Zaire at ND. Both are left handed and both broke their legs and both were beaten out by 6 ft 4 qbs in Kizer and Towles. In order for Daz's offense to work, it will take a Tim Tebow. At Ohio State it sure worked with the 270 Cardale Jones. It no longer works at Ohio St. It sure isn't working at BC. The wide open exciting Matt Ryan type game worked for the first half of the bowl game. Wade is adequate like Zaire. From clips of Brown, he wants to run like Cam Newton. Let's compare their physiques. It all comes back to "Georgia Eagle" and Matt Ryan. If Madonna doesn't take one half hour at the Super Bowl, then Mattie would be "the toast of the town". Kizer though erratic could really throw. It looks like Daz just wants 6-6 and Wade or Brown will likely get him there to protect his 2.6 mill.

Between Perry and this guy there is a shift to recruiting "throw first" QB's.

It doesn't matter either way if the o-line cannot block.

I don't think the coaching staff understands that. Dazzler still has Justin Frye as the o-line coach. He hasn't developed a good lineman in 4 years. Keeping Frye as the line coach will be Dazzlers downfall.

Why be successful? Isn't it against the social progressive shitcexposed by so many incompetent representatives. God forgive (excuse the pun) that BC actually lives up to it motto of Ever to Excel.

The world is going to hell and picking up speed. Why should BC get in the way? As long as Daz get his millions and BC can send out inane press releases about players being selected in the modern day equivalent if slavery - why not?

BC current would screw up a wet dream and smile doing it. No god things will come with DAz as head coach. I hope he was gone yesterday but the leadership will be prudent and continue to set program on backwards track.

Maybe they can all check in with their mommies to get necessary coddling and affirmation.

Daz is a joke. Has been since day 1. None are so blind as those who will not see.

I don't want to come off at all sounding like a Daz defender since I'm not one and am fed up with him as much as the average BC fan, but the job Christian has done is way worse and it is unclear whether we will even field a team next year.

say what you want about the Dazzler (terrible in game coach, terrible sideline demeanor, questionable recruiting, looking like he cannot develop his own talent, etc etc) but he has 3 seasons where he's won more than he's lost. next year it looks like we should be decent or maybe even better if Loefler continues to take over the offense and we can actually do things like get first downs and kick extra points.

Christian is an abject disaster, has been the clearly bottom of the barrel in the ACC since his arrival, and next year we currently have 6 scholarship players, only 2 of whom are clearly "average" or better. it is as if we are a program on probation with how he has used the scholarships and the alarming rate at which guys are transferring. we've had 5-6 transfers in 3 seasons, which, if it negatively impacted our graduation rate (for some reason it doesn't but it should at least marginally count if you are driving half the kids you recruit out of the program 12 months upon their matriculation) he would have been fired when the Turner news broke.

i guess the point being Daz, if you squint hard enough, you can actually find some positives and make a losing argument as to why he might be our head coach in 2018. Christian should have been fired two years ago when he went 0-18 but instead we gave him a 1-year extension. if Christian isn't fired 11 months from now Jarmond is as much of an empty suit as Batesy was.

Max, keep up the good work and don't get discouraged by the BC sycophants on this board. Because of their blind faith and inability to criticize BC, the athletic department is in shambles and the school itself has become a PC cesspool.

Good to learn that the draft is akin to slavery. Missed that class at BC.

Johnson-$3.3 million over 4 yrs/$760k signing bonus
Milano-$2.6 million over 4 years/$260k signing bonus

Poor fellas.

I submit there is no difference between sports and entertainment.

I would wager there is not one person on this board that has actually played football (or basketball) at a consistent high level from grade school through professional to actually be considered a subject matter expert. Quote all the stats you want, but if you have not been there done that; don't throw your blame on me.

BC sports sucks currently. Deal with it. The only thing that sucks worse is BC inability and lack of urgency to change. Their whole mentality reeks of "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today"

Slavery reference may be extreme. However the only money guaranteed is the signing bonus. Uncle Sam will get a huge part if they are not smart. Read likely they will not get at least half. The contracts are poor compensation for slamming your head into others at full speed. CTE will kill the game. Everyday meds like Tylenol, ibubdifin, flexeril do more damage than PEDs.

The world is going to hell and football is doomed. Gotcha.

Everyday meds do more damage because everyday folks use them everyday. Neighbor Suzy ain't supplementing with creatine or toradol.

This whole board testifies daily to BC's athletic incompetence. You're preaching to the choir. I'm confused as to who supports the current state of affairs.

So if you haven't played from Pee-Wee to Pro, you cannot have an opinion. Even if it's the EXACT same opinion.

Right. Brilliant stuff. You're angry. Get in line.

You can have an opinion. It's just that it doesn't matter.

The bottom line is:
If you are going to participate in the charade that is D1 football(fuck all the network posturing of Power 5 crap) go all in. Otherwise get the fuck out. BC could have a niche and be successful BUT they choose to do it half assed. 2 billion in endowment and they build a shitty field house with all donor money. Could have and should have been done with college funds when joining the ACC. There are morons and incompetents leading the college. Maybe they are more concerned with "immigrant" rights - who knows. The point being they do not put money where their mouth is.

Just the opposite. You went to BC on my shouldets

Knucklehead- did you pay for BC or get a scholarship? Did your parents pay for school. Ad a BC professor Jesuit said... stop think you hit a triple because you are third base.

You don't have a fucking clue of what D1 football is; what it does for a school or even how to play the game. Go fuck your wife, pat your kids on the head (if lucky) and shut the fuck up

Blog entitled "Sports Day" for Apr 17, details Tex A&M had a 485 Mill expansion in 2014. This includes 100 flat screens with lockers costing 4500. The new coach at Texas has new lockers which cost 10,000. That is why BC can't compete in recruiting. ---------You throw in the accusations of the goodies afforded by Rick Pettino and BC really has an upward fight to get the attention of talent. In Illinois, a high school freshman baseball player committed to Louisville at 6 ft 3, 230. -------Maybe, the Patriot League is good. ACC money is keeping them in the ACC. If they continue to "march in reverse", the ACC will kick them out. TV revenue will dictate that. Right now, they have a very good tv audience with Catholic support.------ Vince Lombardi actually said it best. "There is one thing that is almost as good as winning and that is losing". That means that you put your heart and soul in and develop character. That is why Rocky Bleier was given a break by Dan Rooney. He left half a foot in Vietnam and was carried out of a combat zone by a black guy that he never saw again. The "Immaculate Reception" happened for a reason between Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris.-----John Johnson and Matt Milano were recruited by the second worst coach in the history of BC. They had the heart and desire. Now, BC has a coach who makes Spaz look like Vince Lombardi.------Our retiring AD never showed up for work and was constantly "out golfing" while he let a woman (Jill Hegarty) run the office. Now, Leahy has decided to blame the AD alone.-----He brings in the youngest AD in big time football and expects him to dazzle the Dazzler with his success in scheduling. The new ADs wife is a dentist in Columbus. Maybe Leahy has a tooth problem. He sure has no clue in how to run an athletic program.---Bates dazzled with his personality with no expertise. There is a pattern here. If Leahy doesn't care about winning, and he doesn't, then let everyone know. The seats will be empty in the Fall and the tv money will still pour in. When it gets embarrassing enough and the incompetence level continues to rise, the ACC will finally give an ultimatum.----Leahy will soon be gone and he doesn't give a rats. After all, he is a "progressive" Catholic and competition "gets his hands dirty". We can't have that. The Jew who founded the religion (and who kicked the field goal in '93) was the son of a carpenter. ------Leahy just sits up in his ivory tower on the top of the Heights and breathes rarified air that he thinks instills reality. Maybe he should go down to St. Ignatius more often instead of leaning out his window.---- When he came into the ACC, it was because of his friendship with Donna Shalala of Miami and radical leftie fame. Let's just say that he has lost touch and doesn't have much respect for the character building aspects of athletics. After watching events at North Carolina, he has a point.---- However instead of hoisting a white flag, he should be saying that BC should be a leader and an influence. He may even get a few priests in the process. What he is getting now is a black eye for BC with incompetence as his "red badge of courage".
