Addazio will unveil the "narrative" at the ACC Media Days

The ACC Media Days start Thursday. BC won't be the focus, but Addazio will run through the conference's media gauntlet. Based on what he says, we will know how confident he is in the team's chances for this year.

Early on in his tenure, Addazio said this was a five year rebuild. Now here we are in Year 5. In theory this should be when everything comes together. Yet at times last fall and even in the spring, Addazio hedged a bit with his expectations. If he is hedging this week, I am taking it as a sign that things are bad. This guy has been pointing to this season since he started. If he doesn't think he can deliver, then this will be a lame duck, lost year.

I understand that there is very little real content at these sorts of events. Coaches and players answer with standard rehearsed, empty quotes. But we will still be able to read into Addazio's key points. I want to see and read that he believes we can compete with anyone on our schedule. If he keeps talking about youth and building the program down the road, it is going to be a frustrating season.

The narrative will be about how tough the conference is. Cloaked in a veil of pride in playing in a tough conference, it will lay the foundation for excuses to follow. I can't imagine he will drag out the "young and inexperienced" excuse again. Even if he believes it he can't really think anyone else will.

I think the 9:17 poster and that former poster who said the same thing in literally every post are one and the same.

Explain.

AlbanyEagle is probably right about the narrative Daz will use to lower expectations. However, it is true that the ACC is a very tough conference now, and BC has 4 or 5 losses baked into the schedule before the season begins. That leaves little margin for error in terms of bowl eligibility. Clemson, L'Ville, Fla.St., VT are top 20 programs. It will be a long time before we can compete with them consistently, let alone win those games.

Hopefully he will point out that BC has one of the worst fan bases among all of the P5 teams.

Worse, unlike down here in Dixie, sports fans in Boston and Mass. Don't give a shit about BC football. It's Patriots, Patriots, Patriots.

Add down here in Dixie where college football rules.

Good news is that Addazio will get fired after this season. I doubt he's going to win enough to stay. Hopefully it's not too bad.
