Stan Heath gone and it won't matter

The Orlando Magic hired BC Basketball Assistant Stan Heath as the coach of their G League team. Losing an assistant over the summer is not ideal, but I don't think anyone is upset by this. How can you get upset? Heath has done nothing to keep this team out of the dumps the past two years and has been a non-factor in recruiting.

I want some optimism, but this upcoming basketball season feels like a waste of time. Christian is a lame duck and while the talent might be better, I don't have much faith in that the coaching staff will get them to play well. Maybe with an empty suit like Heath gone, Christian might find a some young hungry assistant who can provide a spark.

Actually, reading his background is quite interesting. He took Kent State to the Elite Eight after being an assistant at Michigan State for five years. Then went to Arkansas for five seasons to be followed by Seven at South Florida. He was a more than adequate coach. His expertise actually dwarfs that of Christian.

He was useless. Contributed nothing.

Not sure if you are being a bit too harsh on Heath unless you have some better insight from inside the program. After Brad Bates - we know a thing or two about empty suits!
Obviously, as you pointed out, it should be no surprise that the assistants see the writing on the wall and are probably thinking job security. Based on the past - a lame duck year seems likely. However, if one of the freshman (esp Mitchell who was a good recruit) can contribute and either Chatman, Popovic or Reyes can elevate their games a notch to help out Robinson/Bowman - good things should happen. Christian and the remaining staff are fortunate to have another opportunity to get them ready - they need to take total advantage of that opportunity.

Get rid of everyone in the athletic department (except Martin Jarmond and the hockey staff).

this hoops season is going to be an out and out disaster.

Hinnant and Biko Paris are both now assistant coaches at UMass Lowell - hopefully one of them winds up back at the Heights.

Thanks El Miz, can imagine the bird calls for Louie when he gets T'd up! Conte would be rocking. I'd even take the king of the court aka Sean Marshall at this point.
