Checking in on the true freshmen

In the past few years, Addazio has talked about the challenge of using players too early. In his opinion, BC is at its best when it can redshirt most of their players. I don't know if I totally agree with coach. The 5th year transfer rule has changed the dynamic and roster management. But that is topic for a different post. This is about who is playing this year. BC's official stats for the game only listed AJ Dillon and Travis Levy as the freshmen who played. But Alec Lindstrom also saw action as a substitute.

I have no problem with any of those guys playing. If they can help now, get them on the field. This won't be the end either. Addazio said he Petrula was supposed to play too. I am sure he will get in soon.

There will also be guys who redshirt too. And a few of those guys will become long-term impact players. But I believe Addazio needs to play everyone who can make a difference this year. Plan for the future once we get elite dept and don't need any of our true freshmen.

In other news, here are the the general highlights of the game.

Just saw ESPN bowl projections. BC not included. I think they may be right.

On the BCI site, BJK commented. Here he is John. Knoll was not brought in as a punter and is having real problems. He noted issues with the offensive line and linebackers.---Wake will be a real test on a lot of things. Great for the win but NI turned out to be as bad as advertised. Brown looked very good but he is green. Let's hope that experience will develop him.---Pray to Buddha that he doesn't get hurt.

AJ Dillon should get the start at tailback next week against Wake. What's Hilliman going to do, transfer to Stony Brook? Dillon chose to go to BC instead of Michigan for obvious playing time, he should be the featured back; also considering Hilliman has already been given a chance and remains mostly ineffective.

If they beat Wake then they just need to win 4 more games to make a toilet bowl. But since BC has top notch academics they can still make one at 5-7. But at 5-7 I wouldn't even watch the bowl. Anything worse then 6-6, Addazio should be fired.

Hopefully Travis Levy gets a chance to show what he can do against Wake, his running style in the spring game reminded me of Andre Williams.

One question I have is why was Harold Landry on the sideline for a good portion of the game? Hopefully he's not injured.

This has to be related on USC. They have a blind kid on the squad (cancer at 10) who snapped for a successful extra point. And you and I thought that we had it tough.

Another tear jerker comes from Iowa. There is a children's hospital on the hill above the Hawkeye Stadium. Children with cancer watch the game. At the end of the first quarter, the entire stadium of 70,000 stand up and turn and wave to the children. Isn't that what football is supposed to be all about? ----The stadium by the way is named after Nile Kinnick who won the Heisman in 1939 and died as a Navy aviator after one year of law school while training off the USS Lexington in 1943. He turned down playing in the NFL and was offered a sizeable bonus. The NFL has turned into a cesspool for both scum bum players like Zeke and greedy tycoons like Jerry.

If they have True Freshman who can play & contribute. Play them. Dillon has to get touches. He is a huge upgrade over Hilliman.
