Hockey wins and other links

Hockey beat UMass in a rare Tuesday game.

This recruit claims a BC offer. I don't think BC will honor the commitment given that they kid was just arrested for crack cocaine.

Former BC assistant Dana Bible is joining Chip Kelly's team at UCLA.

Darn. That crack kid is now gonna get an offer from Miami or FSU. He’ll never come to BC!

Let's hear it for the FSU Criminals.

The criminals just don't go to FSU. The French school just kicked out four players of substance. Black athletes are just genetically superior.--- Drug dealers are heroes and sex symbols in the minority community. Jerome Bettis acknowledged growing up in Detroit and carrying a gun in his drug dealings. He alluded to having shot members of rival gangs.---The black community is a savage land. It is a lot like that seen in the writings of James Fennimore Cooper. There is no "noble savage". There is only a savage and the gangs lay waste to the land.---BC is a "light in the darkness". Nevertheless, you have to understand the mentality of the black athlete. It is either the NBA, NFL or prison. The professional black athlete does not give back. In general and almost totally, they are followers of Snoop Dogg and not Denzel Washington. For God's sake, Snoop Dog's son was recruited and signed by ND. Snoop Dog was seen in many glamor shots on campus--In order to win, you have to have the horses. The outlaw programs at Louisville and Kentucky are notorious. The coaches are even worse. The NCAA looks the other way and when Mary Willingham came forward at UNC, the investigation dragged on to take it out of the limelight and then the NCAA did absolutely nothing.

JBQ - there is "some" unfortunate truth in what you say especially as it relates to the most financially challenged kids from depressed households and the whitewashing (no pun intended) of the pitiful situation at UNC. Having said that, I believe there is a significant difference generally in the type of kid (of any background but especially black) recruited from private schools like a Lawrence Academy and the urban Catholic high schools. These are kids that are in those schools because they have parents, a single parent (usually a hard working mother) or foster grandparents who know what's important, understand priorities and are willing to make sacrifices for their kids. Their ethics, sacrifices and higher expectations usually rubs off on their kid. And those are the schools where BC should focus the most attention. Additionally, there are a greater number of black athletes now from middle class and upper middle class backgrounds that do not fit your narrative. That's not to say that poorer black kids from the urban public schools cannot have the same good influences - but its a higher hurdle and maybe requires a bit more scrutiny in the recruiting process. There have been a large number of black athletes at BC over the years who do not fit your narrative, were great kids and have gone on to become great adults. And there have also been some white athletes who were problematic all around. Suffice it to say, without examining all the reasons, economically depressed black athletes from urban public high schools face a heavier dose of unique challenges and bad influences. And recruiting requires some examination of character for all kids.

Not sure if we missed anything on this kid, but Addazio was the coach primarily responsible for recruiting Aaron Hernandez out of Bristol CT to Florida. And while Daz may or may not have missed something in the Hernandez situation - I am sure (hope) it affected him and his outlook/approach.

Seems more like Lane Kiffin's kind of guy.

Obviously , if BC made the offer , then maybe they must reexamine their vetting process. I love the tendency to always point out the mistakes that ND has made in their recruiting . Please do not go there because BC has made plenty of judgement errors also. In today's culture , getting a character kid is MUCH MORE difficult than in the days when some of you posting here were growing up.

JBQ and Napoleon both nailed it. Proud of you two for having the courage to tell the truth about todays black athletes. Be prepared for the inevitable blow-back and charges of racism from the PC police on here.

GE, NB and JBQ it is flat out racist, and really stupid, and should have no place hbeing published here. Good Lord.

I am not sure if JBQ is in some offensive spoof mode.... but i would delete this crap.

This is hideous and odious.

That is the best story I have read in a while. The last paragraph is priceless. Funny as hell.

Wow.

If the high school paid him to play football maybe he would not have been slinging crack.

Generalize, much? "Hideous and odious", indeed.

I've had my share of disagreements with mod, but he is right. This isn't PC. It's simply condescending and, quite frankly, hugely out of touch. That guy posts some strange things, but strange is okay. This, decidedly, is not.

And Khead with the cherry. That was funny. Two birds, one stone. Ha.

Anyway, I remember when the blog was moderated. Wait. No I don't.

Told you this would happen.
