Report: more football staff changes

Within hours of Steve Addazio's press conference, news broke that there was another staff change in the works. According to Pete Thamel, OLine Coach Justin Frye is leaving BC for UCLA and being replaced by Phil Trautwein.

Timing can never be perfect, but it does seem odd for Addazio to not announce this change in line with the others. If he had Trautwein lined up, he obviously knew it was coming.

While I think Frye did a good job overall at BC, I am not worried about the future of the Oline. The area is Addazio's baby and whomever is coaching the unit is going to get extra help from Addazio. Trautwein fits a similar mold in that he played under Addazio and has served as a GA under him as well. I am sure he will use the same sort of techniques and drills that Frye has been using.

Trautwein is currently at Yale and is from New Jersey, so I don't know if he has recruited the Midwest like Frye did. Perhaps recruiting territories and assignments will shift again.

Last time it took BC over a week to confirm the rumored staff changes. It will be interesting to see how long they wait this time.

Frye sucked. UCLA needs it's head examined.

The offensive line showed a massive improvement this year. Thing that critique is a little harsh. He also proved a pretty valuable recruiter. But then again, vs history, we have not been getting the same caliber of olineman recruits we normally would. I do not worry about BC attracting oline talent. We used to be a pipeline to the NFL. Hopefully we can get back to that

The line fell into place because the center go hurt and they moved Petrula into that role.

Total fucking accident.

He hasn't developed a lineman in the last 4 years of his players.

Been calling for him to be moved for 2 years.

Good day for the Eagles.

It looks like faux Al Golden (AG lite?) is now too good for BC.

Mr Empty Laminated Resume just added a new item to his resume -0ffensive coordinator for Ohio State. Big time.

He is now so “big time” he will never return to BC.

Thank god!

Good turn of events for the Eagles

I do not understand how Oline gets better with a frosh Center. It is an indictment on the coaching staff that the upper classman was not better

The threat of a "Monster" back at 240lbs certainly changes the game for an offensive line !!! A Huge factor in the O-Line turnaround last year!!And the freshman Center is their best O-Lineman in a long time, which was another major factor. If he(Dillon) stays healthy next year , it will be awesome !!! He will gain 1000 yards off the TOUGH OOC schedule alone !!! Holy Cross , UMass etc.

Petrula is the most underrated player in the ACC. Will be interesting to see if they leave him at center. If they move him then Addazio needs to go to Westwood with Frye.

With Trautwein's background, he could be a very good "up and comer" or not. We'll get to find out.

Re: Frye leaving? Best of luck. I won't remember his name by September.

That may be true. But you wouldn't say that to a pkayer.

Yikes Sean Miller. Good luck with that.

Read the article in the Boston Globe today. Sums up everything I have been saying about effort for months.
